A/N: This is a Maia/Simon oneshot I thought up during History class. Slight "City Of Ashes" spoilers. Read and review? Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own The Mortal Instruments or any of the characters.

He Was Different

He was different.

He didn't have Bat's nonchalance or aggressive attitude. He was plainly assertive, just passive at times depending on who he was with or talking to, and let his emotions run freely over his face instead of hiding them beneath a mask of pure confidence. A sensitive boy.

He was different.

He didn't have Jace's war-driven madness or sex appeal. He was calm and collected a good amount of the time, for the most part sane, and entirely adorable in a geeky sort of way. He didn't have to flaunt his looks to make her attracted to him- he just had to be himself. His quirky sense of style and humor was enough hot make her dizzy with lust. A refined sort of guy.

He was different.

He didn't have Daniel's uncouthness or uninhibited malice. He was a modern aged sort of gentleman who didn't push the limits or try to make her tick. He didn't go around torturing animals for the fun of it, just so he could see the helpless look in their eyes before he finished them off.

He was different.

For everything he wasn't, she liked him. He wasn't one of the arrogant boys who thought they were above the world, or used their appearance to get what they wanted, or made fear surge through you with a single piercing look.

He was different.

That was before. Before she knew the real him. Before he became on of them. Mortal enemies from past history, unable to change the course of their destinies. Destined to loathe, destined to destroy. Locked together in hated for all eternity.

Simon was different in her eyes, but now Maia knew the truth. He was just a carbon copy of evil. And she couldn't stand the fact that he wasn't different- human -anymore.
