Tatl gave a huge, exaggerated sigh that told Link that she wasn't the slightest bit amused.
"Well, what have you got to say for yourself?"
Link could have sworn she rolled her eyes at his silence.
"I really hope you have a solution for this, because I certainly don't."
Link did his best to look shamefaced.
"Don't you pull that puppy dog face on me, mister—it's not going to work."
There was a long, drawn-out silence. Moment by moment the silence got more and more awkward; Link wanted to say something to alleviate it, but couldn't manage more than a few muffled, unintelligible syllables.
"I didn't catch that," said Tatl sarcastically.
Link tried again, and then realized it was useless.
"Let me ask you just one thing: How the heck did you get in there?"
Link reflected on this. He had been in Deku Scrub form because it was faster to traverse through the swamp that way. He had pulled out his bottles to see if there were any empty ones he could fill with potion from the old hags' shop. Sure enough, he did have an empty one—though he couldn't help but notice a little black speck on the bottom. He had stuck his finger inside in hopes of scraping it off, but he was unsuccessful. He scraped a little harder, but it was a stubborn little speck. He tried harder and harder, still with no results. He ought to have given up, but he had been determined to get that speck off if it were the last thing he ever did. And that was when, somehow, he ended up inside the bottle. How on earth he was able to fit was a mystery. It must be a Deku Scrub thing, because the Deku Princess had accomplished the same thing. But the Princess had had Link to let her out; Link had no one, except for Tatl. And fairies aren't exactly ideal for letting their partners out of bottles.
Said fairy hovered above him, becoming aware of the fact that he couldn't answer her question; Link's face was squished against the glass, which prevented him from speaking. "Never mind," she said.
There was another awkward silence. Link vaguely wondered what this scene would look like from a stranger's point of view: a Scrub wedged in a bottle being berated by a glowing orb of light with wings.
"Well…" said Tatl, "Termina is doomed."
