This is a short, random bit I wrote.

Spoilers for X-Men 3!!!

This is what Logan is thinking as he moves forward to kill Jean in the end.

It's a oneshot.

Review.

No own these characters.

Every step killed him more. He knew he had to end her life. When it was all over, she'd be gone, and the world would move on. But would we? He wasn't sure.

He knew he had to do it. It was simply the only option. Logan had to kill Jean Grey, and there was no way around. He couldn't run away, hop on a bike and escape. This had to be finished, and it would be, with one final death.

He summoned his strength to keep going, to find more reasons for doing this. He didn't want to do it. He hated that he had to. He thought of Rogue, so young, so excited about life. He thought of the Professor, a great man, who died for his cause. And now, there had to be another sacrifice, but it wouldn't be him. He would be sacrificing them.

He knew she would want him to. Jean would be happy to die for the mutant world; in fact she did only a couple months ago. But that was different. That was Jean, and this, this was him, killing her. She'd killed so many, and yet, he held no grudge, not hate, just love.

Love for the woman he had to end. The thing he had to kill.

The only person that had ever, ever made him fall in love. And it would be like a part of him dying to. But he had to.

He must.

"You'd die for them?"

"No, not for them. For you.

For you."
