Part 1: Of Love and Plots

"Tobias Salington! Awake this moment!" Katherine Hawk screams. I immediately awaken.

"No soy durmiendo! I am just reading without looking up." The class laughs at this. It is an obvious lie. I have my book closed, anyway.

There arises an eerie silence. Finally one speaks. It is Mrs. Hawk, "As I was saying, only thirty years ago, there was a rebellion in this town. The rebels, at least the ones whose body parts were found, attended either this school or the neighboring church." She pauses and the class takes notes. I start into a doze. Then one fact energizes me. "The leader, from the reports of the few survivors found, was an eleventh-grade attendee in my mother's class. This brave, yet insane rebel, by all sources, was called Tobias McLuther." I write the fact down during a short pause; my first notes of the day. "The final detail, for today, is of the survivors not gathered. We have concluded on at least five people that left successfully during the battle. One may have had a child. And probably, the child would be in college if it were the real son."

The bell rings. The class leaves the room. I stay and talk to Mrs. Hawk. After a minute, I leave and head to my next few classes.
