A/N: Well this is a blurb that may or may not morph into a full blown story. Tell me what you think. I love reviews, good or bad.
Ready or Not.
Miami. 7:15 a.m. local time
Dexter trotted down the wet, reflective steps of his apartment building. Miami was constantly hot and muggy. This armpit like weather forced him to walk a little more rapidly toward his silver minivan. As he slid behind the wheel the engine rumbled to life the AC came on full blast. His polo shirt was slightly damp from sweat he had acquired in the short walk. He reveled in the cool air and for a moment allowed his thoughts to wander.
Lila. It would be so easy to kill her quickly. A needle in her neck⦠a knife in her chest...
A small laugh passed his lips. It would be simple, and Harry's code would remain unadulterated. He could already see the life leaving her eyes as she took her last breath.
However, this is not how it should happen. Her dramatic attempt on Astor and Cody's life had assured her that. It could be so easy, but why take the easy way when he can have a little fun with her first? Dexter knew just how fun it would be to make her beg for death. He would make her take all the rage she had bred in him. Yes, she would scream for her end.
Dexter's fingers idly traced the raised bruises on his back. The wall he had burst through during the fire had taken its toll on his shoulder and back. Although his burns were still painful, Dexter enjoyed every twinge. He enjoyed it because he knew he would win. It would be easy to find where she had run off to. Lila was sloppy, too emotional; too sure that she had successfully killed Aster, Cody, and himself. He would teach her a lesson about killing the people you love.
Dexter pulled out his cell phone and put a quick call into his buddy at Miami international. "Hey Greg, I need any outgoing international passengers with the first name Lila." A short pause and Greg gave him the information he needed. "Thanks, I owe you one." As the phone clicked shut he smiled and mumbled to himself, "I owe her one too."
