Everything has a beginning. Everything has an ending. Only when something ends can something begin. For things to end, there must be a beginning.

The End

Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach. Well…I'm sure there's some in the kitchen cupboard. The cleaning agent stuff…not the manga.

Nothing lives forever. He knew that.

Everything died. He knew that too. So why did it hurt so much?

Pain is a funny thing.

The tips of her pale fingers stretched out to meet his own.

I am not afraid….

There was no point to being afraid.

I do not regret…

There was no point in regretting.

So close…her fingers slowly uncurled…too slow. Her eyes were brimming with tears. Silly girl. Am I worth that much to you?

A small sob caught in her throat and she took a lurching step forward. She reached out and tried to grab his hand. But it wasn't there anymore.

"W-wait…"

Such a feeble sentence. Her broken words had no effect.

He stared at her hand, still outstretched. Silly girl…

But he could see now. You cannot see the heart. This was not the same thing that pumped blood and oxygen around the body. The heart was everywhere and nowhere. Right now…it was here…in his hand…

What a nice gift. What a nice feeling. Yes…a feeling. In this meaningless, monochrome world, he meant something to someone. He had been worth someone's tears. He wasn't sure when his eyes stopped seeing. But the last thing he saw was a pair of large, tear-filled, brown orbs staring at him, almost pleadingly…

Endings weren't always happy.

But they weren't always sad.

Sometimes…there was just…an end.

For new things to begin, old things had to end. That was life. There was no point in being afraid.

Nothing… lives forever.

I know it was pretty short. But I don't like to drag these things out. Ulquiorra's death deeply saddened me. Poor Ulquiorra…

Oh well. Thanks, and please review.
