The party's over
Drunk teens in their cars
Not a care of the safety of others
Revving their engines
Ready to go
Not aware of the dangers ahead
It's dark and it's cold
She only drank soda
She knew what her parents would've said
Always cautious on the roads at night
But who knew that this could have happened?
On the right side of the road she stayed
When bright lights were suddenly in front
She didn't have time to scream
The paramedics at the scene
Said she was dead on the impact
Her soul above and gone
At the funeral they gathered
To mourn and to weep
For the lost young soul
Who was taken away so quickly
Her mother sobbed
Her friends weeped
Her father was in a stunned silence
But nobody noticed the young man all alone
Crying quietly to himself
He couldn't show his face
For he was the one who took her life
Her gravestone read Above and Gone.
This poem is dedicated to Daddy's Little Cannibal, and anyone else who has been killed in a drunk driving accident. She will be missed greatly.
