Just another little one-shot that I came up with quite a while ago!

A little angsty to start with, but it gets better!

xoxoxo

Jack looked up as Gwen walked into the office. She strode straight over to him and pulled him to his feet.

"Gwen, wh-"

She silenced him with a kiss, a deep, passionate kiss, full of meaning, want and desire. Then, she pulled away, turned on her heels and left the Hub, Jack calling after her. Grabbing his great coat, he flew out of the Hub after her, finding her by the bay, staring out into the water. He strode over to her, saying nothing, but pulling her to him, covering her with his coat and wrapping his arms around her. She buried her tear-stained face in his chest.

"What's going on, Gwen?"

"Rhys…he got promoted…" she sobbed.

"I…I don't get it…isn't that good?"

She shook her head.

"The job's in London, Jack. I'm moving to London."

Now Jack understood. Just a few days ago, he and Gwen had had a heart to heart, and they had both admitted they loved one another. Gwen had been preparing to leave Rhys, and Jack had never been happier. This turned his world upside down, and he held her tighter as he started to cry with her.

"No. You can't go, Gwen. I won't let you."

"Rhys is so happy, Jack. I have to go."

"What about me, huh? You were all ready to leave him yesterday. You were going to leave him for me. What's changed?"

"This…" she put her hand in her pocket and produced a shining diamond ring.

"He proposed to me, Jack."

"And you said yes?"

"I need stability, Jack. You keep telling me that. You've always told me to keep a hold on my normal life. I'm doing what you always wanted me to do."

"We love each other, Gwen. I love you."

"You can't give me stability, Jack."

"I can give you anything you want."

To prove this, Jack plunged his hand into his own pocket and produced a ring of his own. Gwen had to admit that it was much bigger than the one Rhys had bought her.

"I was keeping this until you'd left Rhys. I bought it yesterday. So, how about it, Gwen? What do you really want? Who do you really want?"

Gwen swallowed, raising her head so she was looking at Jack.

"I…I need you to say it, Jack…I need you to ask me what Rhys asked me…"

Jack took her hand, going down on one knee, something Rhys hadn't done, Gwen noticed.

"Gwen, I love you. I always have. Right from the moment I set eyes on you. You're the one, Gwen. I want to spend the rest of my immortal life with you." Gwen giggled. "So, how about it, Gwen? Will you make an honest man out of me? Will you let me love you? Will you marry me?"

Gwen blinked away fresh tears as people around the bay stopped dead, eagerly awaiting her answer.

"Yes," she nodded. "Of course I will!"

People around the bay whooped and cheered, as Jack grinned, getting to his feet and spinning Gwen around in his arms, before placing her gently back onto the ground and kissing her deeply. In the same movement, Jack took Rhys' ring from Gwen's hand, putting his own ring on her finger. They smiled at one another, tears streaming down both their faces, all talk of Rhys and London forgotten as the happy couple looked forward to a new life together. The Captain and his angel.
