Sasuke laid upon the ground gazing out the window at the stars. It was a few days after he assembled Hebi.
He and Suigetsu had arrived in the Land of Waves today to run a little errand, Zabuza Momochi's sword.
Gazing upon it he said nothing, but the sight of the two graves triggers some of the hidden memories.
"Sasuke!"
A rude blond haired ninja in a ridiculous orange jumpsuit came to mind.
'Heh, so they named the bridge after that baka. Waste of a good bridge.' Sasuke thought as he remembered how the idiot snuck into the dome of mirrors with an accomplished smile that didn't know anything.
Back then the days of Team Kakashi seemed so peaceful. He might have even forgotten about Itachi and he revenge had Itachi not made it into town himself after the third's death.
'Nii-san, what are you doing now? Are you sneering at my failure to kill you? Are laughing over sake about the clan's destruction?'
The thought of Itachi lit the fire in Sasuke's fists, clenching the small twig he was holding into fine pieces.
He threw the remnants of the twig into the fire glowering next to him, thinking about how stupid he was to get angry when he should be saving his energy to find Itachi and deliver to him his death.
'What's taking Suigetsu so long to get fish from the river?' he wondered, 'The river's only a few miles away.'
A cool breeze flowed through the forest, weaving in and out of the trees. Sasuke felt something cool touch his forehead, reaching his hand up, he fingered a small sakura petal.
Sitting up, he held it in his hand, afraid he would crush the delicate creation with these bloodstain hands.
"Sakuras, are out of season now aren't they?"
He looked down at it, "Alone like me, huh?"
Images of a certain pink haired girl filled his mind.
"Sasuke-kun! Sasuke-kun!"
How damn annoying she was during those days. Sasuke-kun this, Sasuke-kun that.
"Yet," he thought, "She was kind, and caring when she decided to be."
The bright odd yellow glow of the moon reminded him of the daffodils she use to bring for him when he was in the hospital,
Didn't she know that a single daffodil meant misfortune, and unrequited love? He imagined her panicking slightly at her mistake, at this he smiled slightly.
Closing his eyes he pictured Sakura turning around befuddled at her mistake smiling that radiant smile, "Then next time, I'll bring more than one to symbolize my happiness when I'm around Sasuke-kun."
That was something, he thought, was very Sakura-like to say.
"Hey Sasuke! I'm back with the fish!" he heard Suigetsu called from a distance, waving Zabuza's sword around as if it was a flag or toy.
He released the petal into the air letting it soar into the glimmering starry sky on a light current.
"Sakura, your daffodil didn't mean unrequited love. Your daffodils meant new beginnings and only one. That's why you got my last thank you."
"Your love was never unrequited."
My first Naruto fiction. -.-;;; How was it? Sappy, cheesy? Out of character?
Thank you for taking the time to read, and please review!
