A/N: I love Serious!Sealand. So here you go!

Sometimes he lays awake at night wondering why he tries so hard to become a nation.

Its not because he wants to be powerful. Being powerful does have a lot of benefits. If he was powerful, he could have anything he wanted, people wouldn't ignore him, and England would listen to him for once. Then he remembers the stories. The stories of how the powerful Roman Empire fell and how power corrupted America and how England used to sob because nobody loved him. All because of power. So he decides no, he doesn't want to be powerful.

Its not because he wants to rule the world either. In order to rule the world, you must conquer other nations. At first it sounds great. He'd never be lonely, people would do all his chores for him, and England would have to bow down to him. Then he see's what its done to the other nations. How it destroyed the last of Russia's sanity. How its scarred so many nations. How he used to sneak into the Commonwealth meetings (because England didn't invite him the stupid jerk) and find that the only person who came was England. If he ruled the world, then everybody would despise him, and he'd be lonlier than he already is. So no, ruling the world isn't the reason either.

Maybe because he wants to grow up? If he grew up, maybe people would take him seriously. Maybe he could finally buy booze by himself (because despite being over 40 years old, he still looked like he was 8). Maybe he would be taller than England. No, that wasn't it either. He liked being a child because his Daddy and Momma (which Finland most certainly was despite his denial) doted on him and adults seemed so boring and sad. Look at England!

Really, there was no appeal to being a nation. He'd have to go to war (even more than he already had, seeing as he was an abandoned war fort), deal with crazy bosses, worry about money and food, be invaded, gain more scars than he already had from the fire on his fort and that damn German bastard, and other unpleasant things that came with nationhood. Really, the only upside was being able to buy booze. Because contrary to popular belief, Sealand wasn't a kid. He was much more mature than people gave him credit for, and he really wasn't an endless bundle of energy that people pegged him for. He was an old war fort out in the ocean. His body was slowly breaking down, and sometimes (most of the time) his body was screaming at him to just lay down and slowly waste away. All with a smile on his face. So as he lay in his bed, the rust spots eating away at his insides, and his metal body ready to collapse, wondering why he wanted to be a nation. Then he realizes.

The only reason he wanted to become a nation is because he has something to prove.

He has to prove that he is capable of being a nation, that he's strong, that everyone was wrong. Most of all, he wants to show England that he's more than an abandonded war fort, that he's worth something. He has to show people this. He doesn't have much time left, and he needs to know that all his effort was worth it.

That's my interpretation of Sealand. Sorry for crappiness. I really like doing these little one-shots though. I already did one on S. Italy. If you want, you can request that I do a character. Also, Sealand was originally a war fort in WWII that defended Britain or England or something against the Germans, and recently a fire broke out on Sealand, just encase you didn't get the scars reference. As for the England stuff, I think that Sealand secretly seeks his approval or something like that and uses the insults as a cover of sorts. Review please?
