A/N: This is my contribution for Jily October. Because Jily is my OTP and they're so damn right for each other.

One of Those Things You Don't Question

I concentrate hard as I held the long instrument in my hand, slowly rubbing it back and forth against my wife.

I know this is going to work! I just feel it! I'm often right about these things, you know.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm usually right about all things.

I mean, how else could I have predicted that Lily and I are destined for each other? Or that Padfoot would constantly come sneaking into our house late at night to steal our food?

I'm a bloody genius, for Merlin's sake! People should really appreciate me and my genius more often.

Great, now I feel unappreciated all of a sudden.

I continue rubbing the long and hard instrument, feeling Lily squirm beneath me.

"I don't think that's going to work, James."

See? Unappreciated.

"What are you talking about? Of course it's going to work! Have you no faith in me, Lily?" I pout.

"You know it's not that, I just don't think rubbing a broomstick against my belly is going to magically make our child, as you would put it, 'Quidditch Smart'. Or any kind of smart, really. " She says.

"Lily! Don't ever ever doubt the power of the Broom. Ever, Lily, Ever. It's just one of those things you don't question. Like why Wormtail doesn't ever lose weight or why Lucius Malfoy is so bloody pale or better yet, why Professor Dumbledore likes keeping his beard so long.

"Oh, don't be ridiculous, James. Wormtail doesn't ever lose weight because he doesn't ever stop eating! Just last week, he picked up a piece of candy on the street and ate it," She shudders. "And I reckon the reason why Malfoy is so pale is because of genetics. His parents are pale, therefore he's pale as well. And Dumbledore likes keeping his beard so long because…because…"

"Because?" I smirk. My smart wife may have shot down the first two with cold, hard logic, but there's no way she's getting this one down.

"Because…well…Oh, hush! Just because you gave me one thing I couldn't answer…er, question…doesn't mean your broom's power is unquestionable! Merlin, you're better off muttering a charm and rubbing your wand against me."

"Oh love, if you wanted my wand rubbing against you, I'd be happy to obli—"

I laugh as I saw the blush creeping through her cheeks. "Oh James, you're incorrigible! You know I didn't mean it that way!"

My sweet innocent Lily. How could I not fall in love with her? She's bloody amazing. I can't ever imagine marrying someone else…wait.

Wait, that's it!

"I have another unquestionable thing for you, love."

"Have at it, Potter."

"Why we were meant for each other."

"Why we were meant for each…Oh, James!" She throws her arms around my neck.

I kiss the top of her head. And at that very moment, I don't feel so unappreciated anymore.

Not that I ever truly have, but you know what I mean.
