The Big Announcement
Booth and Brennan had decided that tonight was the night to make their big announcement. They invited all of their friends to join them at The Founding Fathers after work. All day, conversations came to a halt whenever either of them entered the room. Brennan suspected that everyone was simply giving her the time to speak, seeing as she was the expert on the case. Booth assured her that they were talking about them, wondering what the announcement could be. Angela seemed to give them a knowing look. Booth wondered how much she knew.
After a long day, the time had finally arrived. The duo and their eager friends crowded around a table at the popular bar/restaurant. Everyone ordered drinks, and the group of friends stared expectantly at Booth and Brennan.
"As you know," Brennan began, "we invited you here tonight to share with you, our closest friends, some exciting news."
Before she could continue, Sweets interrupted,
"You finally admitted your love for each other and are together?" He asked.
"You eloped?" Cam exclaimed.
"You did the dirty," Hodgins guessed, nudging Booth.
"I don't know what that means. What's the dirty?" She questioned.
"Sex, Bones. He means sex," Booth answered.
"Oh. Then you would be correct." She said matter of factly.
Booth rolled his eyes. "Did you have to tell everyone that?"
"They were bound to figure it out." She said rationally.
"So you are together." Hodgins stated.
Booth and Brennan glanced at each other. "Well, not quite…" Booth replied.
"So, you asked us here to tell us you slept together?" Sweets asked quizzically. "Good for you, but that's not necessary."
"Hodgins asked, I was just answering." Brennan said. Turning to Booth she muttered "Was I supposed to lie?"
"No, you're fine" he said "Can we please just say what we came here to say?"
"Yes. Go ahead Sweetie, there won't be any more interruptions." Angela said, with a pointed look at Hodgins and Sweets.
Looking at each other, Brennan and Booth broke into big smiles. "Booth and I are…" she started to say, but then hesitated. Telling everyone suddenly made it seem all that much more real.
Putting his arm around her and pulling her closer, Booth finished by saying "having a baby!"
There was a stunned silence and then suddenly the bar seemed to explode with noise, as all of their friends let out joyous exclamations and gave the parents to be congratulatory hugs.
