One Wish

It was a peaceful, idyllic day in the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
The sun shone brightly and illuminated the greenery throughout the village, giving the entire area a verdant, sparkling look. The sky, through which several fluffy, marshmallow - looking clouds were drifting, was a perfect, cerulean blue. The numerous species of birds made their presence felt as the village was inundated with various bird songs and calls of the most melodious sort.
Even among the people, there existed a tranquil, harmonious equilibrium. Everyone seemed to be out and about, civilian and ninja alike, just going about their every day business and mingling with friends and family. Children raced through the streets, darting through the crowds as they played games of ninja and tag.
Some people, encouraged by the day's atmosphere, decided to venture into the forest surrounding their beloved home where they simply wandered about, admiring the landscape. The adults contented themselves with watching the leaves, currently showing just a hint of brown, fall around and sometimes on them and listening to the beautiful music created by the village's native wildlife. The children meanwhile busied themselves chasing butterflies, climbing trees and trying unsuccessfully to catch frogs.
Sasuke Uchiha stood next to the Academy building, taking in the sights all around him. He heard the bird calls, he watched the people mill about and the other children play, he felt the warmth of the sun upon his face and he wished vehemently that he could just live - without any worries, any pain or any hurt. He raised his head and bared his face to the sun and he wished, foolishly he knew, that the sun's rays could pierce the darkness in his heart.
