Summers Day Fades to a Summers Night

By: Maryah Corson

The breeze is a feather against my skin

The water is calm reflecting the sun like a mirror

The grass sways gently against my bare arms

The white fluffy clouds roll in front of the sun

Making shadows pass over my face

The sunlight shines through the tree leaves

Casting a greenish glow

The smell of wildflowers wafts through the air

Making everything smell like a light perfume

The birds are out singing a cheerful tune

No cars drive by on the nearby road

The water is luke warm against my feet

You can see the minnows swimming around by the dock

The sun starts to fade casting reds and pinks over the sky

The night starts to descend over the lands

The stars start to peak from the heavens

The only noise is the crickets chirping

You can see the bats flying in their day

The full moon lights up the night

The night has no clouds to hide the diamonds in the sky

All the animals have gone to sleep

Except those who live in the shadows of night

As the day ends and the night begins I lay my head down and sleep

Because the cycle will start again and again and again

Because the Summers Day fades to a Summers Night
