The door slammed shut as Roxas swung round and slumped into it. He released a sigh of relief and slid down 'til his behind hit the hallway carpeting. He jumped up and stared into the mirror, trying to see him. Not the cheap copy he'd become.
"Roxas! Is that you, honey?" His mother shouted from the kitchen. Roxas felt cold, what had he done? "Yeah, it's me..." He called back, sliding his backpack off his shoulders before taking off and folding up his school uniform. "Good, you're back. I need your help in here!" His mother laughed, holding a cupboard door shut so it wouldn't explode with crocks and utensils.
Roxas leaned into the kitchen, holding his coat in hand. "I'll be back down in a tick, I gotta get changed!" he sighed, darting upstairs to his room. He dived onto his bed and plugged in his headphones, "I'm sure she can handle it..." He giggled, putting on some Eminem.
"Roxas Hanson, get your backside down here now!" Freya shouted, washing a plate with a dishcloth. Roxas pulled his headphones out and slid out of bed, "Why?" He called down, buttoning up his Voi jeans. "Because you said you'd help me! Our family doesn't break promises... You know that!" She called up, growing irritated. Roxas gave out a long-drawn sigh and ran downstairs to help her.
After 2 hours of long, tiring work, Roxas felt his phone vibrate from his pocket. He pulled it out to find he'd received a text from his closest friend, Axel Rhode. It read, "Hey, wanna come out? Me and Zexy at park.". Roxas locked his phone and grabbed his jacket. He leaned into the kitchen to find his mom and shouted, "Mom! I'm going to the park to meet Axel and Zexion!", opening the door. He stepped onto the front porch and sighed, realising he had to once more place on the mask that shielded him from all the pain and grief of bullying. "I wonder if I'll ever be accepted for what I was... Or what I still am, maybe..." He sighed, setting off for the park.
Sorry it's so short! I ran out of ideas for a 'hooking' first chapter...
Then again... It doesn't look very hooking at all... Ah well, reviews appreciated!
