All was quiet for a moment, and Loki let his gaze wander over the form of the wife he had not seen in who knew how long. He stopped at the knife attached to her belt. That wasn't there before.
"You're armed."
Sigyn looked up from her hands, crumpled up in the fabric of her skirts. "Yes," she murmured. "Nobody in Asgard is happy with what you have done, and some of the common people wanted to take it out physically. Unfortunately, you were thought dead." Loki cringed, knowing what she would say next. "Of course, he had left a wife behind who was rumoured to be weak." She looked down at the knife.
"They attacked you," Loki guessed. At this, he saw Sigyn's lips curl up in what might have been a menacing smirk.
"They tried. Not all rumours are proven to be true, you know that." After this, she covered the knife with some of the fabric of her flowing skirt, a sign Loki took that she didn't wish to speak of it further. She then turned to face him, and took his hand nervously. She caressed it with her long fingers, taking in his presence.
"Loki," she started. He looked up from their joined hands. "May I-" She looked down again.
"Yes, my flower?" Sigyn stammered over and over before getting her question out.
"May I see you in your true form?" This shocked Loki. Sigyn may have been the most afraid of Frost Giants, of monsters, in all of Asgard. He would turn to his Jotunn form and lose her for good, realize what a beast he was. She saw the doubt in his eyes. "Please," she implored. He sighed.
His skin grew cold, colder than normal. It started from his hands, up his arms. She flinched at the sudden drop in body temperature, but watched as the blue tint in his skin traveled up. Markings were etched up and down his arms, his neck, and finally, his face. His eyes glowed red, and Sigyn could see the doubt behind the color.
As she let go of Loki's hand, his heart dropped into his stomach. He had done it. Lost her. But then, her hand traveled up to his cheek. Her thumb rubbed across his cool skin and she gazed into his eyes.
"You are no monster." Before he had time to respond, she pressed her warm lips to his cool ones. "That is the opposite of what you are."
