"Hey Mio, wait up!"
"Hurry Mayu! Its this way!"
"Wait don't leave me! Mio! Wait!"
"Come one May- Mayu!! Look out!"
Snap, swish
"AHH!"
"Mayu!!"
Its been a two years since that accident, yet I can never forget it. I remember it so clearly. The slip...the scream...the fall. Terrifying. Mayu and I were out in the forest, playing around like we always did, till I made her rush to a place I found. She was trying to catch up, but slipped from the edge of the ground, and plummeted to the ground below. I ran to where she fell and there, at the bottom, I saw my twin, lying still. The rest was a blur. I didn't want to remember the rest. All I knew was that it wasn't a pretty sight.
And now, three days ago, she goes missing. We were out in the same forest, out for a walk. She didn't break her leg, but she still limps. We were at the exact same spot, to where she fell. I stared out over the edge, to see a river flowing through the spot where she landed. It was amazing how her leg didn't break.
"Remember how we used to always be here?" I remembered the last words we spoke.
"Yes."
"All of this will be gone soon."
" your leg still hurt?"
"Only a little bit."
We sat on a rock, with our backs facing each other. She soon disappeared from the spot, and I caught her, chasing something through the air. I ran after her, calling her name to stop. But while I was still chasing, my foot got caught on a root and my head hit a trunk of a tree. Later, I awoke at home, in my bed, with a cold, wet cloth, lying across my forehead. Nobody has found my sister. I felt so alone the past few days.
"Do you promise?" I listened to distant memories again.
"Of course. We'll always be together."
"I promised you that, didn't I?" I whispered to myself in the dark.
The moon shone high in the sky, leaking through my window and lighting my empty room. I find it empty with Mayu. I wore my night gown - pink, with red petals and white lace at the edges. My navy blue blanket, draped over my legs as I sat there. I took one last deep breath, before my head met the pillow. The blanket was now over my shoulders, giving me like a warm hug. I closed my eyes, allowing to watch my memories, replaying in my mind.
"I promise..." I repeated, after scening the same flashback.
Soon my mind relaxed and I began to dream.
