Series of Strange Events: Into the Past
By: Drixia
Prologue: Into the Unknown
Authoress' Note
Thank you to everyone who's waited for this sequel!
Yes… I'm aware four years is a little… drastic per say, but I wasn't feeling the creative juices. I have big plans for this sequel. If you haven't read the first installment, 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' you may want to go over and read that first. It's pretty short, only 15 chapters. Hang on for a bumpy ride! Please no flames; constructive criticism is fine, but no blatant rudeness. I'll try to keep characters in character, but I'm not Kishimoto, so I can't make any promises. Please review! This is just the prologue, so it'll be a bit short. I'll be updating at least once a week.
Much love, D.

Rated T for language
Warning!
This fanfiction will probably contain spoilers and will most definitely be slightly AU at some points. I mean come on, I'm not going to sit here and rewrite the entire series, y'know?
There will also be some crude/inappropriate/odd humor. Get over it. I've rated it M, just in case. – D.
POV – First Person
It's been four years since I've been in this hell-hole.
In the beginning I was numb.
All my emotions faded into the background. I don't remember the paramedics, or the cops, and I definitely don't remember the psychiatrist.
I pled guilty. It was all I could do.
Who would believe that an evil organization from a TV show appeared on my doorsteps as kittens? Who would believe that even with the knowledge I possessed I would befriend said villains? That I would stupidly invite them into my home and feed them, clothe them, and help them obtain what they desired?
Only an insane fool would do such things, and that is exactly what I am.
I've lost everyone close to me, and for what? A laugh…?
How very immature of me.
Now I was just angry.
I wanted Madara Uchiha… no, no I want ALL of the Akatsuki DEAD.
My eyes narrowed as I stared up at the blinding white ceiling above me. The entire room I was in was white; the bolted down bed, the floor, the walls, the sheets, even my clothes.
I blinked furiously. The light was… was brighter?
What was happening?
I reached my arms over my eyes to stop the sudden brightness.
"Such a tragedy…" A soft male voice announced his presence.
I shot up in my bed and looked toward the center of my tiny room, not ten feet in front of me was…Sandaime. The third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi. He was standing in my room!
"What the hell are you doing here?" My voice was rough, seeing as I haven't exactly been a chatterbox in here.
"Child… O'Neill Rachel," His eyes regarded me kindly, and it made me feel something warm inside. Something I thought had been extinguished.
"You have been wronged."
"I have been m-more… then wronged," Using my voice was painful.
He nodded before beginning, "I have a proposition."
"How are you even here?" Before he proposed anything I needed my answers.
"I have used a dimensional scroll-"
"No… How are you alive?"
A smile played at the edges of his mouth, "I have heard many things concerning that. It appears to know that, you must first hear what I have come to you to say."
The old me would've joked back.
This me just glared.
He took that as a sign to continue, "The world that you know me from has changed; and not for the better… The Akatsuki have taken control. They have enslaved the nations. They have harnessed the tailed-beasts powers and thus killing the vessels." His eyes glistened at this.
That meant… That meant Naruto… The hero, the main character… was DEAD?
My eyes widened like saucers.
"Soon he," We both knew who he spoke of, "Will encase the world in an everlasting illusion."
"What does this have to do with me?"
"The proposition; I can send you into our world, into the past.
You will be given the opportunity to grow. You must become a ninja, and you will need friends.
Everything must revert itself to the way it should be. Things must be the way you know it to be in this world."
I weighed his words in my head carefully, "but how will that save…?" I couldn't bear to say their names.
"If you can stop the Akatsuki from infiltrating your world, it will alter your world as well. The ones you lost will once again breathe," I clutched my sheets beneath my fists tightly. I felt a small tear fall down my cheek.
"But there is a price," I inhaled sharply, "They will be alive, but you will not."
"That's fine-"
"You won't die."
I raised an eyebrow, confused by his words.
"You will be alive in my world, but in your world you will cease to exist. That is the price that must be paid. You see, there is but one scroll with the ability to transport through dimensional plains, and to prevent this future from ever coming to pass… you must destroy it."
I stared down at the tiled floor.
My mom, my dad, my best friend, even that asshole Phil… They would all be alive again.
But I wouldn't be here anymore. They wouldn't be my parents or my best friend anymore. They'd be nothing to me and I to them.
"I'll do it," My voice just above a whisper, "Just tell me what to do."
My eyes met his kind eyes, "You need to find the scroll. I don't know where it was when Madara found it. I just know the maker… Minato. He unknowingly created it with the intention of sending the Kyuubi through it, to spare his wife.
It may be in Konoha…
If you cannot find it there, then you must follow Gaara when he was taken. My understanding is the scroll was there, in that lair, but there wasn't a clear understanding of its capabilities. Destroy it with fire and bury the ashes."
He offered his hand, and I accepted. I stood beside him with nothing but determination in my eyes.
"One last thing… You must not speak to me of this. I will not remember you there. You will be alone in this mission Rachel…"
I nodded, "I won't fail."
With that I felt the contents of my stomach somersault as we were submerged into the same blinding light as before. I tried staying awake, but my knees buckled and my eyes rolled back into my head.
All there was…was Darkness.
Das End
Authoress' Note 2
Well that's the prologue... A bit boring and maybe a bit cliché, but there you have it!
Rachel is going to Konoha!
Will she succeed in overthrowing the Akatsuki?
Will she change the future?
Or will she fail?
Stay tuned to find out!
Much love, D.
