Prologue-
It's a funny thing, fate. King Henry the eighth is known in history as King of England who married and killed many women. But, things happen in life that don't always go as planned. One small event can change the timelines of history. Before Anne Boleyn and Catherine D'Aragon, there was another, that at that point in time not even Henry himself knew of.
When Henry was only ten years old, his elder brother Arthur died, leaving Henry as the new Prince of Wales and leaving the lonely 16 year old widow, Catherine D'Aragon alone. At the time Henry's father thought it would be suitable for Henry to wed the grieving widow, once Henry was of a proper age, in fear of losing Catherine's dowry. But, they would need permission form the Pope for a betrothal to occur.
After that point, everyone knows what happens and both history and Fate was set, but what if the Pope, was suspicious of Catherine's word. She says in the whole time that she and Arthur were married (six months) the marriage was never consummated. That and the fact that the death of her mother brought down Catherine's 'marriage market value' and Catherine would most likely lose her chance at marrying again, brought suspicion to the Pope. So the Pope denied Catherine's claim and left both her and Henry spouseless.
Years passed and there seemed to be no woman worthy to be The Prince of England's wife. Henry VII, Henry's father sent his men looking far and wide, for the King's health was declining and the fear of his young son taking the thrown without a wife, and so in 1509 King Henry VII died andhis young son was crowned just days before his 18th birthday, spouseless. To honor his father's wishes Henry kept the men searching for the perfect bride. The men search all over Europe, or so they thought. But no one thought to look in a place that England had control over already.
The lush hills of Ireland were, at that point in time divided into sixty different Gaelic lordships, not sanctioned by the King of England and Lord of Ireland. Deep within the hills of Ireland was the Ó Seachnasaigh family who ruled over Kenealea, what is now known as the County Galway. The King Eadbhárd (AYD vard) of Kenealea, he was a stubborn man and still believed he had true right to the title of King, had a young daughter Mairéad (mar ADE).
Trouble with England and Ireland kept brewing, but Henry had no time for it. He decided he would personally visit some of these so-called-kings and discuss peace. Of course he wasn't going to give them their land, but he would just make it seem that way. In his trips fate once more would be changed.
A/N- This is very AU, I hope you don't mind. I did jumble history around and create a few characters, but there is actual fact in this. At the time when the Tudors ruled Ireland there still were Gaelic lordships that refused to recognize England's hold over their land. The Ó Seachnasaigh family did exist; I'm just switching it up a bit. The rest of the story will not be written in this style of course I just wanted the background to be set up before anything else happened.
If you don't review, how do I know if you want the story to continue?
My solution? PRESS THE REVIEW BUTTON! :D I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this, more than I want cheese, and that is A LOT! So please review, or I might keep this all to myself.
