(Koda's POV).
Koda couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned. Fed up, he stood and walked outside, not caring wether Kenai and Nita worried or not. He picked up his pace as he walked. He ran down to the river and jumped in. Koda splashed around, enjoying the feel of the cool water on his brown, silky fur. He came back up, gasping for air. That's when he saw...her. She was a brown bear, sort of like himself. She wore a skin around her body. She had the bluest eyes Koda had ever seen. He thought she was kind of pretty. "Hello!" called Koda. The she bear looked up. "Oh. Hello," replied the bear quietly. Koda ran over to her. "I'm Koda. What's your name?" he asked. "My name is Elli," she said. "That's a nice name," Koda said. "Thank you." Elli smiled. "Say, why do you wear that skin?" Koda asked. "We're bears. We don't need skin." Elli looked puzzled. "No. I'm no bear," she told him. "I live with humans." So she thinks she's a human, thought Koda. Well, I will not say anymore, then. "Okay," said Koda slowly. "I live with an Indian tribe," continued Elli. "Would you like to see them?" Koda nodded. "Yes, please!" he said. "Alright then. Follow me." Elli led him down a path. "Do you know where you are going?" he asked. "Indeed," Elli answered; "I know these woods by heart." Koda shrugged and continued following Elli. They came to a field with teepees in it. "Here we are," Elli announced. She smiled. "This is my home." Koda smiled, too, and followed her into one of the teepees. A woman in an animal skin sat by the fire, cooking meat, it looked like. "Mother," said Elli. "Yes, darling?" the woman asked. "This is my new friend, Koda," Elli told her mother. "He is a bear." The woman smiled down at the bear cub. "It nice to meet you, cub," she said in her heavily accented voice. "You as well," Koda replied a bit shyly. "Why are you up at this hour, Mother?" asked Elli. "Ah. We must prepare for the ceremony tomorrow," her mother said. Elli sighed. "I wish Father were here," she whispered. "I do, as well. But remember, he always in your heart," said her mother. "What happened to your father?" asked Koda curiously. "He was killed in war when I was young," Elli replied, "along with my brother, Mitzvuh." Koda bowed his head. "I am sorry," he said. "Oh, do not worry," her mother said. "My name is Seria, by the way." Koda smiled. "That's pretty." Seria chuckled and sat down on the log once more. "Why don't you go play?" she suggested. "I've to go home, ma'am," said Koda. "Kenai and Nita are waiting." Elli looked somewhat disappointed. "Alright," she said. "Don't worry, Elli, I will come visit you tomorrow," Koda promised. "See you then." Elli looked happy again. Koda bounded home and flopped down next to Kenai, who was still sleeping. Koda smiled to himself, for he had made a new friend.
Well, what do you think?
