The Intrusion

Michaela Quinn slowed her pace slightly as she approached the lake, having heard sounds quite similar to the splashing of water. Watching her step as the ground gradually began to slope downwards, she squinted slightly in the bright sunlight as she looked at the lake. The sight that confronted her was a man in the lake, his long, damp hair sticking to his shoulders and water running off his face, arms and visibly bare chest. Michaela's eyes darted to the grass near the lake, where a set of clothes, including pants, lay waiting for their owner to step into them.

Feeling Michaela's eyes on him, the man looked up, blushing slightly when he saw who it is. "Uh, hi there, Dr. Mike."

"Sully?" Michaela gasped. I had no idea that is what lies underneath his shirt… Michaela quickly shook her head to rid herself of such thoughts. You should not be thinking like that, Michaela Quinn.

Sully watched as a rosy blush coloured Michaela's cheeks, before speaking again. "Uh, would you please turn around while I get dressed?"

Realizing she had been staring, Michaela nervously smiled. "Of course; I'm sorry." And with that, she complied with his request.

Sully intently watched her back for a full minute to ensure she didn't turn around before climbing out of the lake and slowly putting on his clothes.

Whilst Sully was dressing, Michaela found herself growing impatient. How long did it take for a man to get dressed, anyway? She was in grave danger of turning around, and it took great mental will not to.

Finally, Sully announced that he was finished dressing and began his ascent to meet her.

"I'm sorry for intruding upon your…bath…like that."

Sully shrugged as he straightened up beside her. "It's alright." His bright blue eyes stared into her eyes intently, and Michaela was forced to look away with the distinct feeling that he could penetrate her very soul with those eyes.

"I should go," she whispered, feeling very much the intruder now.

Sully nodded and went on his way, leaving behind a confused and profusely blushing Michaela.

As Michaela stood there watching the place where Sully disappeared, only one thought ran through her mind: What an intrusion!
