Chapter One

I was in my room when I felt it- the surge I always feel. I could feel it: my eyes smoldering, my heart beating faster, my temples swelling and before I knew I was on my roof facing the sun. See I never knew I could feel this until my fifth birthday: it was a hot blistering July afternoon me and my "friends" or so I thought were in my new in ground pool.

My "friend" her name was Emmanuel when I wasn't looking grabbed me underwater, and held me there till I couldn't breathe. As my head started to tilt and my hair started to fall that's when I felt it, my eyes smoldering, my heart beating faster, my temples swelling I burst out of the icy blue water with a burst of light that seemed to come from Thor himself, my "friends" looking at me in awe with their stupid faces on. As I darted the sky as if walking on air it to transform into a phoenix. What would follow this was unspeakable. They still haunt me today whenever I close my eyes.

Facing reality I realize that I am on my apartment's roof facing the setting sun. This always manages to take my breath away: a rose pink sky, with crystal clear clouds, and a striking red sun. When I'm here I feel alive. The transforming usually happens when I angry so I try to remember why I'm like this. Then it hits like a waterfall of emotions- my Mom and Dad were at it again but this time they brought me into. Telling me it was my fault that they were the way they are. It clouded my senses to hear them I screamed at them and ran to my room. Where I cried and cried till my eyes were numb. Then I was out my window and out onto my roof.

My light hollow bones allowed me to maneuver easily, and my bright fire red feathers allow me to stick out in the black night sky, and my claws allowing me to rip through whatever I pleased. I fly back to room only to find my things abruptly packed in a small box I never did have many things to my name. With a note attached to the box it read:

Dear Amber,

I and your father have decided for the best of us all, you must go. Where we don't care but you must leave.

With hope,

Mom and Dad.

Well I guess this just the kick I need to add to my perfect day. I take my things down to the train station and leave behind my old life to set out on a journey as a phoenix.

Chapter two

Riding on the train holding my small box a bill board catches my eye it's for people like me! Oh joy where is this oasis? 33 sunset drive. Yes that's the next stop. As I get off a tall man bumps into me and I drop my things. I scatter to pick them up He bends down to help me.

"hi I'm silver nice to meet you. You are?" Silver seems nice maybe he will help get to the "oasis".

"Hello nice to meet you Silver I'm Amber. By any chance do you know where 33 sunset drive is?"

"Why yes I do you need a lift I'm on my way there now are you a phoenix too?" he says in a hushed tone as if to not let anyone else hear.

"Yeah, can you tell me more about this place?"

"Sure in the car." He motions me to his car a nice red convertible with the signs of a phoenix's wings painted on the side interesting. I walk towards the car in a daze.
