Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. Much to my dismay.
"Sakura-chan!"
She let a sigh of relief. Through the dense smoke from the turned rocks, Sakura was able to make out an orange waving arm attached to a very beaten up, but alive, Naruto.
But as soon as she let out the sigh, her breathing hitched once more as she looked around her friend to search for another familiar face.
Where was Sasuke-kun?
She was about to voice her question when the blonde suddenly fell forward into the arms of a concerned Hyuuga. It was only when Hinata sent Sakura a reassuring nod that Sakura let her eyes leave Naruto in search for the Uchiha.
"Sasuke… kun?" she called. Nothing. After she turned over a few pieces of earth she began to grow frantic. Her pace quickened and her pulse fluttered with nerves. She felt a wave of dizziness and realized she still hadn't taken a breath.
'I can't..' she thought, 'I can't take another breath until I find him..'
A few more moments of searching and her vision began to blur.
"Sasuke-kun!" she tried again, "Sasuke-kun are you hurt? Has anyone seen him?"
She must have been getting looks, not that she could see them as black began to creep around the corners of her vision.
"Sasuke-kun! Sasuke! SASUKE!" She couldn't tell if her vision was impaired from her lack of oxygen or her tears. "Sasuke…"
She couldn't hold it anymore. She collapsed, gasping for air. Where was he? Did he leave them again? Was he hurt? Unconscious? Or…
"Aa. You're still annoying."
She whipped her head around so quickly she saw stars, or maybe it was the sweat still glistening from him. His bangs stuck to his forehead, the rest of his midnight hair sticking every which way. His face was blank but for his dark eyes that held mostly judgement for her present predicament and a little something else…
Not that it mattered. The shear sight of him was perfect to her. She let out a smile, one that she always saved just for him.
