How to live a life
Chapter 1
A/N: Hello everyone! This is just my take on the next generation era. I hope you enjoy it :)

PLEASE READ: The first few chapters are pretty slow because it's just introducing most of the characters and their situations. The action starts up after these chapters though. Please don't judge the whole story on this chapter.

"James! Over here!" Fred Weasley yelled from the compartment he was sharing with Louis Weasley.
James Sirius Potter sprinted towards the compartment as fast as he could. He slammed the door behind him shut and sat down next to Louis and across from Fred. Fred and Louis looked at each other, Louis then asking, "What are you running from James?"
James smiled, "Your sister, Vic. I caught her and Teddy snogging at the platform and interrupted them. I then told the whole family. I know she is looking for me, she is livid with me right now."
James Sirius Potter was the eldest son of Harry and Ginny Potter. He had shaggy black hair and hazel eyes. He was a third year Gryffindor and a chaser on the Quidditch team. Fred Weasley was the only son of George and Angelina Weasley. He had red hair, tan skin, and brown eyes. He was also a third year Gryffindor and was a beater on the Quidditch team. Louis Weasley was the youngest child of Bill and Fleur Weasley. He had blonde hair and ocean blue eyes. Like his cousins he was also a third year Gryffindor and a beater alongside Fred on the Quidditch team.
Louis laughed, "I'm just glad I'm not the one who caught them snogging. Anyway, sorry to leave you when you're on the run, James, but I have to meet someone."
James raised an eyebrow, "One of your many girls for a snogging session?"
Louis laughed as he opened the compartment door, "Yeah, but I'll see you lot later."
"Be back to plan the prank tonight!" Fred told him sternly.
"Of course," Louis said as he left his friends.
Fred turned his attention to James, "Anyway, we should probably find a better place to hide you. Vic will definitely find us in this compartment, it's right by the entrance."
James nodded, "Yeah, lets check on Al and Rosie. Vic would never think I'd hang with them after the way I've been harassing Al about him being in Slytherin."
Fred smirked, "Good idea, let's go!"

"Look who made Head Girl and Boy! Congrats guys, you deserve it," Chloe Smith told her friends, Victoire Weasley and Frank Longbottom, as they arrived in the compartment after their prefects meeting.
Chloe Smith was a short, skinny girl, only about five-four. She had dirty blonde hair just past her shoulders, sea foam green eyes, and was a pure blood from America. Victoire Weasley was the daughter of Bill and Fleur Weasley. She was tall at about five-nine, had long blonde hair, and ocean blue eyes. Frank Longbottom was the eldest child of Neville and Hannah Longbottom. He was about six-one, had dark brown hair, and blue eyes.
"Yeah, congratulations guys, and guess who is Quidittch Captain? Olivia!," said an outraged Luke Williams, another one of their friends.
Luke Williams was a tall boy at about six-three. He had strawberry blonde hair, hazel eyes, and was muggleborn. He was a great quidittch player, especially since he only started to fly in first year. He plays Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team.
"Congrats Olivia, but you sound jealous, Luke," Victoire told her friend as she sat down next to Chloe.
"Yeah right," Luke lied terribly.
"Thanks Vic, but Luke, we all know you are jealous of me," said their other friend, Olivia Wood.
Olivia Wood was the daughter of Oliver and Katie Wood (née Bell). She was at an above average height of about five-eight. She had long, wavy light brown hair, ice blue eyes, and was a half-blood. She was also on the Gryffindor Quidittch team with Victoire and Luke (Victoire was seeker), she played keeper like her father.
"Shut up, Olivia, you know I deserved that badge," Luke told her.
"Well, unlike you, I sleep, breath, and live on Quidittch! Plus, it's in my genes! My dad was Quidittch Captain, you know?" Olivia told him.
"Yeah, you only told us a million times," Luke shot back at her.
Before Olivia could make another snarky remark, Chloe jumped in and said, "Will you guys stop fighting for once. Let's talk about our summers now that Frank and Vic are here."
"Good idea, Chloe. Let's have Vic go first because she was about to tell me why she was late," Frank told everyone.
"Victoire? Late? Now I got to hear this," Luke said excitedly.
"Okay then, well, where should I start..." Vic paused for a second to think,"well I should first start with saying I have a new boyfriend."
"Merlin, Vic, who? Tell me," Chloe said, she always loved some good gossip; which reminded Victoire of her sister Dom.
"If you would let me finish I would tell you, Chloe. Calm down, you tend to get overly excited about stuff like this," Victoire told her friend.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Chloe said, offended.
Victoire rolled her eyes at Chloe then continued, "My new boyfriend is Teddy!"
"It's about time you two got together," Olivia told her friend with a laugh.
"Yeah, that's what everyone has told us," Victoire responded with a smile.
"Well, I mean, it was pretty obvious you guys would get together eventually," Luke told her.
"I get, I get" Victoire said, before she continued, "Well, basically all I did was hang out with Teddy all summer. For why I was late, Frank, was because James caught Teddy and I snogging, then told everyone. Teddy and I had to confirm it to the family, then we lost track of time."
"You guys were snogging in the middle of the platform and you really didn't expect James to find you? Come on, it was like you sent him an invitation," Frank told her while he laughed at Victoire and Teddy's ignorance.
Victoire rolled her eyes, "Yeah, we were stupid, I get it. Enough about me though, how were your summers?"

"Rose, do you still want to be in Gryffindor," Albus asked his cousin nervously.
"Yeah, I do. Al, calm down, I can tell you're nervous," Rose told Albus.
Just as Rose finished saying that, the one and only James Potter and Fred Weasley bursted into the compartment. Both with a grin that they only had on their face when they were pulling a prank.
"What did you guys do?"Albus asked them suspiciously.
"Nothing, we are just waiting for Victoire to get back to her compartment so she doesn't see James, then decide to kill him," Fred told them.
"Yeah, we have too many important things to do. Getting stopped by Victoire will not help us get it done," James agreed.
"By 'important things,' do you mean pranks?" Albus asked.
"Of course I mean pranks, little bro. What else is important to me?" James told Albus.
Fred laughed then smirked mischievously, "Oh, I don't know, maybe the one girl you ask out every-"
"Shut up, Fred, Victoire is probably in her compartment already. No need to worry about her anymore, let's go," James said as he rushed out of the compartment blushing.
Albus and Rose shared a look. They didn't know James liked a girl, and they never saw him blush like that before. "Don't run away from your problems, James. They are going to find out eventually! I mean, you seem to ask her out every hour on the hour," Fred yelled to James while he chased after him.
"Oh, this is rich! James getting rejected by a girl! Oh boy, I got to tell Uncle Ron and Uncle George so they can pick on him about it," Albus said mischievously, an evil grin plastered on his face.
"Merlin, you sounds like James," Rose said while she laughed at Albus' face after she said it.
"No, I am not like James, not at all," Albus said while crossing his arms.
"I know you're not, I was joking with you. Take a joke for merlins sake," Rose told Albus, still laughing.
"Hey, can I sit he-" a boy with white blonde hair started to say, then he realized who was in that compartment.
Albus and Rose stared wide eyed at him. They didn't know what to do. They recognized him as the boy Ron told them to stay away from, Scorpius Malfoy. They all just stared at one another in awkward silence for a minute. Then Albus smiled and said, "Well you wanted a compartment, didn't you? Sit down."
Scorpius obeyed and sat down. This just made for more awkward silence. Then Scorpius spoke up, "So what house do you guys want to be in?"
"I want to be in Gryffindor, like the rest of my family. Name's Al, by the way," Albus told Scorpius.
"So do I, my name is Rose," Rose then told him with a smile.
"Yeah, I know who you guys are. My dad pointed you out at the platform, told me stay away from you," Scorpius said awkwardly.
"Ha, my dad said that too! I wish they would let go of their prejudices, or at least not get us involved in them. I mean, we're not them," Rose told Scorpius, while she laughed at the fact her dad and his arch nemesis said the same thing about each other.
"I know, it's annoying, isn't it?" Scorpius said while he laughed along with Rose.
"Totally," Albus joined in.
"So, Scorpius, that's your name, right?" Albus asked, waiting for Scorpius's nod, then continued, "What house do you want to be in?"
"I honestly don't know. Both my parents were in Slytherin, but I don't really know if I want to be in it," Scorpius explained
"I really hope I'm not in Slytherin," Albus said, his fear of getting into Slytherin started up again.
"Sorry about him, he's just terrified at the idea of being the first Potter in Slytherin. We all blame his brother, James, for doing this to him. He keeps telling him he will be in Slytherin. As you can see it has messed with Al's head a bit," Rose explained to Scorpius.
They continued talking about random stuff for the rest of the train ride until Alice came in and told them they were going to be there soon, so they should change. Alice Longbottom was the Longbottom's youngest child. She had long blonde hair and bright blue eyes, she was also a first year, like Albus, Rose, and Scorpius. Scorpius and Albus went to change while Rose stayed, she already had her robes on. By the time they got back it was time to get off the train. "First years, over here!" Hagrid yelled.
The trio then walked over to Hagrid, ready to start their Hogwarts adventures.
