(A/N: Aaaand as requested by a few of my readers (awesome people, might I add) I've decided to come forward with my very own multi-chapter non-lemon ErzaxLaxus fanfiction.. I don't really know how far this 'non lemon' thing is going to work out. Because really… Hello! It's Laxus and Erza! (Mostly because I have trouble picturing them thinking of the other as a potential love interest without at least an accidental one night stand. ) We'll see how it goes though.

Clean and innocent LaxZa fanfic, here we come! *determined pose* And yes, I know how lame the title is. Alternate title suggestions welcome.

Yay to crack shipping

The Queen's Lightning

Prologue

Because sometimes the person you end up with is the one you least expect.

He may not be the one you were sure you had an undying devotion to. He may not be the one who is always at your side. He also may not be the one who challenges you and picks fights at you at every step of the way.

He may never watch you with affection and brush a stray strand of hair off your face, whispering how beautiful you are.

Because sometimes love is just like that. It exists in the place it shouldn't…It takes forms that you'd least expect and manifests in a way that might take your very breath away like you'd never even imagined.

But really? Was Laxus Dreyar that to Erza Scarlet?

Surely not!

As much as by-standers can tell their only striking similarities are their short temper and rank as the most powerful mages of Fairy Tail. Then again, those 'similarities' if anything only play part in hindering their potential compatibility.

Then again, there's often more than meets the eye.

And no, we're not talking about stolen glances, timid blushes or unconscious yet conscious brushes of the hand- none of the sappy stuff! Okay, maybe 'some' of the sappy stuff.

We're talking about clashing egos, strained pride, exchanges almost-blows and just a sort of unexplainable….raw….magnetic 'pull'.

Of two people so similar yet so different.

Because, this isn't one of those stories where you ask the guy something like- "When did you fall in love with her?", only to instantly hear-"From the moment I first set my eyes on her." Because no, he didn't love her since then. In fact, was this even 'love' at all?

Probably not.

Really, who knows?

Only time can tell.

So that was the ultra-short prologue. Tell me what you think.

Suggestions, criticism and opinions welcome!~ Review if you may.
