Cloud sat on the sill of his window looking out over the rising city. Edge had spread into what was now New Midgar.

"What am I supposed to do now that your gone? The world has no place for someone like me. "

"I've done so much since since I first met you, yet it was always you that it centered around in one way or another."

"Sephiroth."

"Now that your gone for good I don't know what to do with my life anymore."

"All the others have moved on. They have new purposes and have each other. But what about me? My purpose died with you."

"Why? Why can't I feel anymore? You are my perfect enemy but I can't hate you. Tell me why."

"Tell me why." Cloud whispered to himself as he leaned his head back, closing his eyes to sleep.

"It's time to let go now, Cloud." Cloud opens his eyes to see Sephiroth with tendrals of shining green flowing around him.

"s- Sephi-roth?" the silver haired angel smiles and nods to Gaia's savior.

"It's alright now puppet, everything is alright now." But Sephiroth's voice was not alone in Cloud's mind it was accompanied by Zack and Arith both telling him it was time to move on.

"The others, what will happen to them?"

"They will all be fine." Sephiroth embraces Cloud who in his exhausted mind could no longer bear to fight the lifestream's envoy.

"Safe?"Cloud asked still trying not to submit to the man.

"Yes."

"Purpose?"

"Yes."

"I could live with that." Cloud finally submitted to the older man's embrace. The pair began to glow with the lifestream's green light encircling them. Then they were gone.

In the morning the others each took at beating on the door to the small room until it was unceremoniously beat down only to reveal a room that looked like it had never been lived in at all. Cloud had never carried anything more than First Tsurugi and the legendary sword was nowhere to be seen. The only thing left was a black feather and Cloud's red AVALANCHE arm cord both laying neatly placed on a untouched bed

Never again did they see Gaia's savior nor her destroyer, both of them rested held deep in the lifestream. In the passing of each SOLDIER Gaia gained a new weapon that would defend her in the event of crisis, each waiting to rise again.
