Phoenix and Selle C

There was no more dancing around it. Phoenix wasn't certain how to interact with Selle after the events in the market square. Before then she hadn't really concerned herself with recognizing Selle as much of anything beyond a retainer, she knew that at the end of the day she could rely on Adolfo to keep her in line when she truly crossed the line. Just thinking of the fact that he was gone brought a tear to her deep green eyes.

"No," she said to herself, "Adolfo wouldn't accept this display. 'That behavior is unbecoming a princess of Elysia, Lady Phoenix!'" She said, straightening her back and mimicking Adolfo's voice and posture. "A true princess of this wonderful nation sheds no tears! She is a beacon for her people!" Her tone slowly turned more mocking as she continued. "They say a real Elysian princess embraces her freedoms, but make note that she never forgets her manners! And heaven forgive she burp at the table! The sheer humanity!" She feigned falling over slightly. "Just imagining you acting in such a way sickens me! I- AUGH!"

Phoenix fell over, startled by the stout, purple haired woman that had entered the hall. "I-I-I thought everyone was ordered to leave me be!" Phoenix's face began to turn bright red. "How much did you see?" Selle chuckled slightly. "Hey!"

"I'm sorry, princess, it's just… the way you emulate him, it's so accurate! And with such care, you truly cared quite a bit for dear Adolfo, didn't you?" She hiked up her red dress and sat on the bottom step of the staircase she had entered from. Her eyes shone slightly, catching the light of one of the torches in the hall. "I miss him too."

"Selle…"

"Princess, its fine. It's not like you to show concern for me anyway. Normally you're the reason for these tears." Selle suddenly realized what she had just said. Phoenix drooped her head slightly.

"Am I… have I really been that horrible?"

"Excuse me princess," Selle quickly stood and brushed off her dress, "I have to go." She darted back up the steps.

"Selle, wait! Hey! Get back here!"
