She could forgive him for his coldness
The air of indifference he wrapped himself in
But only because she loved him
She could forgive him for the arrogance she had known
The holier-than-thou attitude that surrounded him
But only but she loved him
She could forgive for the bruises
That lined her back and shoulders
Because the kiss had been that good
And also because she loved him
She could forgive him for betraying her
For turning her over to the aliens and, as a result
Hardening her heart forever
And leaving her cold inside
As she was always meant to be, though she was weak
Because she loved him
She could even forgive for disappearing
And for losing his arm to save his life
Because one arm in the night was better than none
And also because she loved him
But she still couldn't forgive him for dying
And leaving her alone
With no arm to hold her
And no warm breath in the night
He had left her alone
And she couldn't forgive him yet
Because she loved him too damn much
