"You're going to do WHAT?"
An obviously furious Fuyutsuki slammed both hands onto the table. Unperturbed, Ikari
Gendo regarded him calmly.
"The Eden Project. To revive Lilith's soul within a suitable 'vessel' made from the
DNA we already possess."
"You're... you're going to tamper with Yui's DNA for... for that project?"
"Yes."
Fuyutsuki drew back his arms. Unable to keep Gendo in his gaze any longer, he turned
to look out into the Geofront. His voice quivering, Fuyutsuki spoke.
"So it is true. All this while she's been just a tool to you."
Gendo got up from his seat and slowly traversed the expanse of his office. Reaching
the elevator, he stepped in then turned around. Fuyutsuki remained standing there,
lost in his own reverie.
"I assure you Fuyutsuki, no man loves her more than I do."
Fuyutsuki closed his eyes. A single tear streamed down his cheek as he heard the
elevator door click shut. He opened his damp eyes, his vision blurred.
"Sometimes I wonder about that... Gendo."

A young boy sat on the floor. He played with toys scattered around him. Three angelic
figurines occupied his attention as the whirl of machinery drew near.
Kihl Lorenz looked down at the boy from his wheelchair, crackled lips petering out
into a smile. He tossed the boy's gray hair gently... as if a father. Noticing a
sound from a corner of the room, Kihl looked up. There stood an aide talking on the
phone.
Seeing Kihl's questioning look, the aide covered the receiving end of the phone and
spoke slowly, "Ikari has begun the Eden Project."
Kihl nodded and chuckled softly.
"Let Ikari play god with his wife's DNA." Kihl said. "We are one step ahead of him.
Isn't that right... Kaoru-chan?"
The gray haired boy looked up at Kihl... His red eyes sparkled as he smiled...
confidently.
