Goodnight Friend
Ace and Zoro sat next to each other on the deck, both with a cup of grog in one hand. After everyone else had gone to sleep, they had stayed up swapping stories of the adventures they had when were younger. One of Zoro's most memorable memories was when he and Kuina had fallen asleep together under the cherry blossom tree in the spring. Zoro smiled at the sweet memory.
"What happened to Kuina? Is she still on the island?" asked Ace.
"No...She fell down the stairs and broke her neck the night we made the promise..."
"Oh...I'm sorry."
"It's alright...So how about you and Luffy?"
"We grew up together, always getting into trouble. I remember one day we stole some watermelons from a farmers garden..."
"And what happened?"
"The guy chased us all over his farm with a hoe in his hand." Zoro chuckled.
"That must have been exciting."
"Not as exciting when we did it a third time...the crazy old man chased us with rot-wilers and a shotgun."
"Holy crap." Zoro laughed.
"Yeah." chuckled Ace. "We did a lot of weird things then."
"Heh, haven't we all..." The two pirates took another drink of their sweet grog. Zoro yawned, as did Ace. "You know, sometimes when I look up at the stars I can still see her face. And sometimes I can even hear her laugh and feel her soft touch..." Zoro slowly closed his eyes as he slowly slipped into a deep dream. Ace smiled sleepily as his narcolepsy kicked in. His head fell softly onto Zoro's shoulder as they both slept soundly...
...as if they were kids once again; sleeping under a cherry blossom tree in the spring in a farmers garden.
