Morgana sighed as she stood on the balcony, her emerald dress flowing behind her, another boring feast inside the hall. She could hear the music and the laughter from all the happy guests.
"Shouldn't you be in there my lady?" She turned round to see Merlin stood behind her.
"Just getting some fresh air" she smiled at him as he came and stood beside her.
They stood in silence for a few minutes looking down into the courtyard below before Merlin turned to look at her. He thought she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen; in his eyes she was completely perfect.
"What's wrong?" he asked softly.
"Nothing" she replied, then after a minute spoke again, "everything." She sighed.
"Why?"
"Im sick of this place, of the same boring routine, the same shallow minded people" then she paused, "not you, im mean the people of the court- and Uther, especially Uther. Do you ever feel like just packing your stuff up one night and leaving?"
"Yeah, go to a place where no one knows you and you can just start fresh." Merlin smiled at her.
"It will never happen though," she sighed again.
"Why not, if you really want something, there's always a way."
"You think?" Morgana asked.
"Well, what's there to stop you?"
"I'd feel selfish." She said simply.
"How?"
"I see the people of the town, some of them struggling to get enough food for their children. It makes me think, what have I got to complain about?"
"You have a good heart Morgana, don't ever change that."
Morgana turned to look at him once more, he was one of the sweetest people she had met, he liked her for who she was, not because she was the king's ward. It was then she realised that she had feelings for him, strong feelings.
She was beginning to wonder whether he might feel the same when he kissed her, slowly at first, but it quickly became more passionate.
"My lady, the king is about to make his speech." A servant appeared on the balcony. Morgana quickly disappeared wondering whether the servant had seen them.
