The Girl Next Door

The Girl Next Door

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.

Summary: Hinata craves attention from Naruto. She tries to change herself to get the attention she wants so badly. However, it doesn't work… or does it? One Shot NaruHina

When compared to her friends, Hinata wasn't anything special. She had the 'girl next door' thing rocking for her, but that wasn't enough to get the Uzumaki boy's attention.

She wasn't drop dead gorgeous like Ino.

She wasn't as good at being a medic-nin like Sakura.

She wasn't as deadly with the kunai like Ten-Ten.

She was timid and shy Hinata Hyuuga, the girl next door.

In order to get Konoha's number one hyperactive loud ninja's attention, she tried to become more like her friends.

For one week, she acted like Ino. She got a lot of attention from different boys, except from the one she wanted.

For the next week, she acted like Sakura. She got a good offer to work at the hospital, but that wasn't the offer she was looking for.

For week number three, she tried acting like Ten-Ten. The only thing she got from this was her cousin's annoyance at her.

Nothing seemed to get the Kyuubi boy's attention!

As she walked down the empty path toward the Hyuuga complex, she sighed and kicked a rock.

Spotting a lake, she bent down, picked it up, and threw it as far as she could. It barely made it past the middle. She sighed at her failure and was about to continue on so she could mope in her room, but a familiar voice caught her attention.

"Hinata-chan!"

She spun on her heels to see Naruto running towards her.

He skidded to a halt in front of her.

"Oh… Hello Naruto-kun." She said softly, being so depressed she forgot to stutter and blush idiotically.

"Is something the matter Hinata-chan? You've been acting weird for about a month," he said in obvious concern.

Hey, what do you know? He did notice.

Hinata smiled softly, feeling her cheeks heat up.

"I-I-I-I-I'm f-f-f-f-fi-fine N-N-N-N-Nar-ruto-k-k-kun," she said, stutter returning with full vengeance.

"That's the Hinata-chan I know! Since your feeling okay, you want to go get some ramen with me? Hey, are you alright? You look like you have a fever." He said, standing super close to her face.

She shook her head, feeling her face burning.

"Oh… okay… You don't have to come get ramen…" he said, but he looked so sad that Hinata acted before she could think.

His eyes widened in visible shock at the Hyuuga heiress attached to his lips.

She pulled away, face beat red. "I'd love to get ramen with you, Naruto-kun," she said, stutter-free.

I guess even the girls next door get happy endings.
