City Girl Meets Glee

CHAPTER ONE

I loved it in New York. Manhattan was my home. I loved everything about it. The lights, the 6a.m. traffic jams, the homeless people sleeping on top of the subway vents on the sidewalk just to get some heat. New York was where I belonged. Me and my mom had a gorgeous loft up on the Upper West side. She's an art gallery director. Amy Beaumont; gorgeous, head-strong, independent, and the reason why I was forced to leave NY. I had a life there. I had friends, I went to the best parties, I was running fundraisers for all sorts of charities to step up my rep, and I even had a boyfriend. A good, extremely gorgeous boyfriend named Nathan. He was good to me. Well, except for that one time when he had been a complete dipshit and "forgot" to wear a condom during the night my mom was out-of-state. So the real reason why I was leaving New York? I got pregnant.

I told my mom when I knew for sure. I told her and only her. Not even Nathan knew. She completely freaked out. She said that Nathan was no good for me and that I was banned from ever seeing him again. She then told me I couldn't keep the baby, and I agreed. I couldn't take care of a baby. I wasn't ready. So a couple of days after the big surprise, my mother and I went to get an abortion. I cried during the procedure ... I think it was because of the physical pain.

Once we got home from the doctor, I went straight and sat down on our plush, leather couch. Next thing I knew, my mother was waving a plane ticket in my face. A plane ticket to Ohio.

"No," I couldn't believe it. She couldn't do this, "Mom, I made one mistake, you can't s-"

"Abby, you are in no position to be giving me orders." Her voice was stern, and in that moment, I knew that her mind was set. There was no point in arguing with her now. "You have become reckless, Abigail Marie. There's no telling what you'll do next if I let you stay!"

I clenched my jaw and looked to the cold, hardwood floors.

"You leave first thing tomorrow morning."

My eyes, wide, completely filled with shock, spun furiously towards my mother. "Mom! That's not fair! At least give me time to say my goodbyes."

She shook her head, "To whom? Nathan? No. Your 'goodbyes' are gonna get you pregnant. Again." She took one last look at me and shook her head again before walking off to her bedroom, "Your father will be expecting you."

I watched her until she disappeared up the stairs. I sunk into the leather furniture. So that was that. Knowing my mother, I was probably already pulled out of school. I ran a hand through my long, auburn brown hair before letting out a big sigh. Great. I was leaving Manhattan, New York to go to lame Lima, Ohio.
