FATHER
Summary : Nico is jealous of Percy. Maybe, jealous is not the perfect word to describe it. Envy is the word.

He is alone again, like always. Maybe, he's destined to be alone forever. He doesn't know. He doesn't really care anyway. Okay, scratch that, he does care. Contrary to everyone else's beliefs, he did like to hang out with other people sometimes. But, who would want to have small talk with a child of Hades, the god of Death - because if he were another person, he definitely wouldn't.
Anyway, what's the benefit of dwelling with issues he couldn't solve? Better try not to think about it and let it pass.
Nico Di Angelo. It's just a name. You could shout it out in your class and no one would now about him. His name wasn't that well known, not like Percy's. Yeah, good old Percy Jackson. The son of Poseidon, lover of Annabeth Chase, and hero of demigods. And, he deserves to have the title, he really does. And, Percy is a great friend for Nico too. He never treats Nico like anyone else, with some kind of fear in their eyes. No, Percy always looks at him as a friend, as any normal demigod, which turns out to be his best friend. And, Nico is grateful for that.
But, sometimes, Nico still feels left out.
Percy has everything Nico longed for, friends and family. Sure, he has friends; he has Percy and maybe Annabeth, but that's it. Percy, on the other hand, seems to get along with bunches of different person really well. For that, Nico envies Percy.
But, what's really ticked him off is not that thing, he could deal with just having one or two close friends. What he needs is a family.
Poseidon is a great father in Nico's perspective. Maybe he is not compared to other fathers, but compare to Hades, well, Poseidon would win Father of the Decade. Poseidon is a real Dad.
He never really thought about his Father when he was still in Lotus Casino with his sister, Bianca. There you go, his other sore spot, his sister. Sometimes, when he thought back about Bianca, he still felt hurt. Hurt that she left him to join Artemis then left him again forever.
A tear sprang from his eyes.
He shakes his head, he doesn't want to think about Bianca. The pain is still too fresh, he couldn't bear it alone. He needs someone to share the pain with, he needs family, his Dad.
But, Nico doesn't have a Dad yet. Right now, he only has a Father. A figure that he doesn't always know but is somehow familiar in the back of his mind. A figure that he respects, for whom he always try to impress. A figure that he hates but loves at the same time.
And, Nico will never give up trying to earn Hades's recognition as his son, as a warrior that he respects, and loves. He just have to wait until his Father become his Dad, then all will be good enough for Nico.
