Disclaimer: I don't own C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia or Disney's movies.

Lucy stared out the train window, cradling her stuffed dog in her lap. To her right, Edmund was asleep, sprawled across the seat. Across from them were Susan and Peter, who remained quiet. Susan was "reading" a book- she hadn't turned a page in 20 minutes. Peter's head was tilted way back, his eyes boring into the ceiling.

Outside, the country passed in a blur, much like the last few weeks. From the time their mother had told them that they were being evacuated, nobody had been the same. Beginning with stressed Peter and going to depressed Mum and angry Edmund, everything seemed like it'd never be the same.

With a sigh, Lucy broke her gaze from the window and stole a look at her siblings. They were all in the same positions, but Peter had fallen asleep. Susan held a finger to her lips when she caught Lucy staring at them.

Lucy nodded and had a long look at her oldest brother. She'd overheard a conversation he'd been having with, well, himself, a couple nights before. The constant pacing had caused the children's mother to send her youngest up to see what was going on. Once she was outside the door, Peter's speech was audible.

"I'm only 13 myself! What if I can't help them? What if something happens to them? Then I'd be letting down Mum, Susan and Edmund… and Lucy."

At that point, not wanting to hear any more negative thoughts, Lucy threw open the door. Ignoring his surprise expression, she exclaimed, "Mum said to please stop, Peter!"

Now, she suddenly understood what he'd been on about. He felt it was his responsibility to protect the rest of them. But he was only a child, just as he'd said! How could he deal with the pressure?

With a loud swallow, Lucy stood up, bringing the dog with her. Susan looked up from her book and hissed, "Shh! He's sleeping, Lu. Go back over there." But Lucy shook her head and lifted one of Peter's arms, sticking the dog underneath it. Then she climbed up on his lap, kissed his cheek, and said, "I'm going to help you out, Peter."

As she turned to go back to the other side, even though he was still asleep, Lucy could have sworn that she saw him smile slightly.

This isn't as long as my others, and it's definitely not my best, but I think it is ok. Please review!
