Hi! I decided to write a one shot story of Ann and Ren after he got out of the police station. This is actually my 1st time ever writing a fanfiction. So some feedback would be nice, tell me if you guys like it or hated (Just be gentle pls if I did suck) and on how I can improve. I actually wanted to do my own long story if it turns out good so this is kinda my testing grounds. But anyway let's begin.
Ren Amamiya the leader of the Phantom Thieves is a tremendous leader, for countless reasons the most important reason is how he is selfless.
His team knows that, Ren would anything for them. For as long as the others had known him, the boy had always been one to give himself for others. He always went above and beyond for his friends for the people he considered his new family and especially for his loving Ann,If Ren had to walk on water for her he would find a way to do it.
Thus it pained Ann so much to see him in such a terrible sitting on his bed while still in considerably poor shape barely able to move without flinching in pain. Even breathing normally caused him some discomfort. All this was the price of the Interrogation plan.
Yet even with their plan being successful, it did not come without consequences. Those well on display upon seeing the injuries Ren now sported throughout his body. His black eye couldn't be missed, his busted forehead, the cuts all around his wrist from the handcuffs. That's the visible damage the worst part was his chest/ribcage. It would be easier to count the ribs that aren't
broken then the ones that aret. Cuts all around his chest the blemishes from where the needles pierced his skin, his bruised legs that were causing him to limp. Ann decided to stick around at leblanc to help care of Ren after the team had their meeting.
All Ann could think about was taking care of Ren and how she wished she could get revenge on those so called "Cops" they are more like monsters she thought to herself. How can grown men who say they dedicated their lives to helping people torture and drug a teenage boy. How she wished she can call upon Hecate to heal Ren like how she usually does in Metaverse.
Yet all she could do was wait. Ren suggested to infiltrate Shidos palace right away and was quickly shut down by Ren could even try and argue for his point the whole team told him he needed to rest. All having a depressed looks on their faces because of what their leader has gone through for them. They all shared Ann's worry for him.
Seeing his injuries broke the blonds heart. She felt so helpless, she would have never thought this was going to be the outcome of the plan,the love of her life beaten to an inch of his life by the police. The thought of it sickened her to her stomach, but also made her truly sorrowful..
She should have thought of something else. She should have figured out another way,how could she let the person who saved her life,who helped pull her out of that dark place she was in last spring go through with this plan,her boyfriend has already been through enough for a lifetime and now this traumatic event was added to it.
Yet even as she tried to put on a brave face ,Ren saw right past it. The boy saw through her facade with ease. Ren knew her better than anybody and he knew when she was trying to hide something, Stating he was alright and that it wasn't her or anybody else's fault, that he was alive and looked her with those dark gray eyes of his and told her "I'm just happy I get to be reunited with you even if I was only gone for a couple days" as he gently touched her face gave a small peck on the lips. Ann having a hard time fighting back tears even as she blushed.
Ren's sweet kiss did help Ann feel a bit better. If it was a different time this is would have lead to much more than kiss, but she couldn't get distracted now she needed to help Ren change his bandages.
"Ren please take off your shirt," Ann asked with her face red as her panther suit. She knew it was for the sake of helping him, but saying it aloud was still a bit embarrassing. Though Ren didn't waste a moment in using this for his advantage,
"Ohhh you trying see the good stuff? " Ren asked with a smirk. "Well,it's showti -"
"Amamiya..." Ann's voice cut the boy off. Ren felt a cold chill go down his spine. Ann only called him by his last name when she was angry and the frown on her face showed she was serious. As much as Ren wanted to brush it off with a few more jokes, he could tell that this would only backfire and make her upset.
Ren was hesitant on taking off his shirt, Ann didn't know just how damaged his chest and ribcage were,and he knew how upset she was going be. It took Ren days to even convince Ann to go through with the plan. She kept saying "I don't know what I would do if you don't make it back in one piece." Ren was back but more like tapped together at the moment,The last thing he wanted was for the love of his life to be upset for nothing she had no control over, no one knew the nightmare he was going be going through in that place.
Ann saw how Ren was being hesitant to take off his shirt ."Ren please take your shirt off" Ann asked again. Ren knew he shouldn't joke but he really didn't want Ann to see him like this so he tried one more time "Ohhh I like it when you tal-". "Amamiya please..." Ren sighed knowing there was no more hiding, With a hesitant hand, Ren moved to remove his t-shirt. Yet at the sight of him wincing, Ann rushed towards him. Ren took a deep breath "Ann I promise its not as bad as it looks. Ann Giving him confused look as she started to take off his shirt.
With a careful hand Ann began to remove the boy's shirt. Ren trying his best to not flinch at the movements but it proved difficult."Ohmygod.." Ann said to herself as she started to take off his shirt and unwrap his tried her best to not agitate any of the wounds while pressing some cold rags against some of his more serious bruises as a means of reducing swelling.
Ann couldn't hold back her tears the blemishes on Ren's torso from the drugs,all the bruises on his upper body and rib cage was a horrific site, it was just too much to handle. Ann cursing her own weakness as she began to cry; fighting back a choked sob at all this.I should have done something, I shoulda tried to convince the team to go with another plan, Im responsible for all this, why im I so use-
Ren at that moment reached out with both hands. Using his thumbs to wipe away her tears before cradling her face between his fingers."I'm okay Ann, I'm alive and that's all that matters, Don't ever think that it this was your fault, coming back to see your face is what kept me going in that place." Yet Ann just let out another choked sob before shaking her head.
"I-" Ren leaned forward and interrupted her with a kiss on the lips, "Ouch that one hurt a little" Ren said while holding his ribs. Ann left with rosey cheeks gave a small smile, "Here" Ann said as she leaned in this time to returned the favor to her boyfriend. "Is that better" Ann said with red cheeks looking down at the ground. A warm smile graced Ren's face before he took her hand into his and gave her hand a kiss, "Have I told you how much I love you" Ren said with his trademark devilish grin."How are you so good at that...?" She asked in referring to his ability to help people feel better, I like to think its my charm Ren said wrapping his arms around Ann's waist. "You know Ann it could be worse, I can be dead" Ren said with a smirk trying to lighten the mood up a bit. Ann gave a small laugh and then gave him a light smack on top of his head. "You technically are dead you dork."
Knowing he made Ann laugh even if it was a small laugh made Ren feel better knowing that Ann wouldn't be beating herself up about something that wasn't her fault. Ren gave his panther a smack on her backside. "Come on let's starting looking for Shido's Ke-" Amamiya! Ann said with a voice that would leave any shadow scared for their life. "What? I always smack your butt" said Ren trying to see if he can throw Ann off, He knew she was going to have problem with him wanted to infiltrate Shidos palace like this but he felt changing Shidos heart was more important than him getting rest.
"REN AMAMIYA YOU KNOW THIS IS NOT ABOUT MY BUTT" screamed Ann, Well you can add hearing loss to my list of injuries Ren thought to himself. "Ann.. Im fine. What we should be doing-" "WE are not going to do anything at the moment, what you need right now is too rest " said Ann while her eyes became watery. She knew how headstrong and stubborn her boyfriend can be at times and that he did not want to rest,he was too determined for justice.
Ren shook his head and as expected, he replied in kind. "I can sleep later. Right now we need to figure out Shido's keywords before it's too late. Right now is the best time to strike with everybody thinking I'm dead and I don't want to bring danger to you guys, it's only a matter of time before he sends Akechi after all you guys." Ren tried to reason.
"We know already know Ren, but you know it will be no good to go into a palace in this condition. If something happens to you in there I will never forgive myself" Said Ann as tears started to flow down her face. " I know it wasn't real but hearing that you died was terrible, I've never felt like that before I felt completely numb hearing those words. Its not that I didn't have faith in you I did I just never want to feel that I have to be without you, so Ren... Please for everyone's sake not just mine, lay down and get some rest." She pleaded one final time. Her voice so broken and sorrowful.
He wanted to argue.. To say that they had to focus on the task at hand and he can rest later . But... She was right he should rest for it awhile, he doesn't want to be dead weight for his teammates. He couldn't afford to slow everyone down. Thus with a sigh he agreed. "Fine... But first thing tomorrow we're going to work on this."Ann knew he was going to be stubborn so she simply nodded. She knew it wasn't going to be easy for him to just rest. "I've been shirtless long enough" Ren said with a laugh. "Now unless you are going join me like this can we put on the bandages so I can get dressed" Ren said teasingly. Ann rolled her eyes playfully and smiled "Well if you have been resting and not arguing you might have been feeling better and I would have joined you but you going have to wait even longer so ha" as Ann stuck her tongue out. Ren laughed and smiled "Well it will be worth the wait, come on let's wrap me up and it's about time to for me to take the painkillers"
Ann finished helping Ren out with his bandages as he took the painkillers. They decided to eat some leftover curry and watch one of Ann's favorite romance movie till the painkillers kicked in for Ren. Ann was sitting at edge of the bed watching the movie as she looked over to check on Ren and he was sound asleep. Soon enough Ann was running her fingers through his hair and against his scalp , Ann pressing a soft kiss to his forehead as he was being lulled to sleep.
"Ann... stay with me." Ren mumbled weakly as he was falling asleep. The blond quick to realize what he was asking for and nodded. "I'm not going anywhere. Now rest sweetie. Rest..."Ren lifted up his blanket hinting for her to come a lay down with him under the blanket. Ann giggled "You are so needy you know that" teasing him for couldn't resist she crawled under the blankets as he wrapped his arms around her,for a quick second she forgot all about Shido all she wanted was to enjoy her time with the love of her live but she knew all too well that once he awoke the next morning they'd be at it again. Trying to find a way into Shido's Palace and take the bastard down once and for all.
Several hours later Ren would awaken- due to some of the pain- to a slight surprise. Able to see it was still dark out and his position had changed a bit. Ann was snuggled up next to him as her her head laid on his chest Ren couldn't stop the smile that graced his lips before he pulled her closer to him as he gave her a kiss on her forehead and tried to get some rest.
