Shima stood on the ledge above, his staff at the ready and Yamantaka floating behind him. His face wore a cold, indifferent expression. Rin stood below the Kurikara out, blue flames enveloping him; he wore a snarl on his face.

"Was everything we went through just for show?!" Rin screamed at him and swung his sword. His eyes teared up. "All our memories..." His voice was weak. "Doesn't that mean anything to you?!" He roared at the pink haired boy.

They looked at each other solemnly thinking about their time together. About their cram study sessions before exams. All the stupid jokes they told each other. Outings to the store hand in hand. Looking at his stash of porn giggling and getting ideas. All the times they spared together for knight training. Secret kisses behind the dorms after cram school. That time in Kyoto where they became friends and met his brothers. Those sleepovers when Yukio was away that involved more than hugs and innocent kissing.

Shima's brow wrinkled and he frowned slightly. He looked away after remembering all those times. "They do mean something." He replied calmly. "I'm sorry Rin... I can't tell you about this right now." Rin's eyes widened and Shima lunged at him, swinging his staff. Rin's heart broke as he raised his sword to block Shima's attack.

AN: I had to write up a little something after reading the latest chapter.
