Um, this is not the first Hazel/Leo fic, but they're really cute together! Besides, if Sammy was Leo's great-grandfather, they'd have the same feelings for Hazel, wouldn't they?
DISCLAIMER: Some spoilers for Mark of Athena! Read the book first!
The Heroes of Olympus series isn't mine. If it was, I wouldn't be making a fanfiction, now would I?
"So, um, this is Camp Half-Blood?" Hazel's voice was clear as the sky. Leo faced her, his elfish grin making her a bit more uncomfortable. This was the Greek camp, and just standing by the boundary made her feel like a traitor for the Romans.
Leo offered her his hand. "Come on, no one will bite," he said, sensing her nervousness. She took his hand after a few seconds, and after, he took off for the Hephaestus cabin.
"Leo! You're too fast!" she said, just loud enough for him to hear before her voice disappeared in the wind. He laughed, remembering that she wasn't one for running. They reached the cabin in a minute flat, not that Leo was counting. Well, he was, but that's not important.
He looked at the steampunk decorated cabin. He smiled. He couldn't wait to show Hazel his room. Luckily, it was lunch, and no one was around.
He put in the combination and unlocked the door. Hazel gasped. "Everything is mechanically designed! Whoa, you guys are . . . um . . ." she faltered, looking for the right term. She still wasn't used to the 21st century.
"High-tech? Yeah, I know." He walked over to his bunk, which, in fact, is the best one in the house. "And here, is Motel Leo, my friend," he said in an announcer's voice. The last time he'd been here, he didn't get to clean up, so everything was a huge mess.
"It's not that impressive, actually. But listen, I want to talk," Hazel said. Leo faced her. "About what?" "You know, about your family."
Leo gulped. He wasn't exactly in the know about the Valdez clan. He barely even knew his relatives. He was always in foster homes after his Aunt Rosa refused to take care of him. "About my great-grandfather, right?" he said reluctantly. Hazel nodded, pushing over a pile of pizza and sweat soaked shirts.
"I know this is weird to say, but I think I was in love with your great-grandfather," she said with a grin. "And I have to admit, you're a bit like him." Leo was determined to make her laugh. "Uh, excuse me, I think I know when I'm better than my own great –grandfather," he smirked, adding a ghetto twang in his voice. Hazel smiled. "See? There, there it is, in a nutshell. You two were always practical jokers. Except that he was better with ladies," she said, obviously oblivious to the fact that Leo wasn't good with ladies.
Leo's smile faded. "Yeah, but, um, I'm not really good with ladies," he said. Hazel widened her eyes. "How you dealt with Narcissus by stealing his fans? That was impressive, and besides, what about Echo?" she said, concern flooding her face. "I know you saw her face. I did, too. She is really pretty, Leo."
Like you. You're the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Leo wanted to shout it out to the world, but he knew Frank would get jealous. And Leo wasn't really a fighting type. "Yeah. Yeah, thanks for that. I need a slap in the face once in a while." He stood up. "Come on, they're probably looking for us. Frank might be worried sick," he said.
Hazel stood up too. "Yeah. Thanks for showing me your bunk, Leo. And the Hephaestus cabin." Leo smiled. "Anything for you, Hazel."
Sorry this is so horrible! I had a mental mid block and I couldn't think! Grah.
Anyways, see ya!
