I wanted to do a little add on to The Lost City-
Don't Read If You Don't Know What Happens Cause It Is Fabulous Just Watching.
Anyway, enjoy
She wasn't sure why she was here but she felt that she had to do this. Since Jack O'Neill had sacrificed himself to save the entire world the rest of SG1 had been distant and brooding.
Major Carter had taken to working with several of the tech staff to try and upgrade everything; Teal'c was mostly in the gym pretending to be training others in reality taking out his frustration on the equipment while Dr Jackson hadn't left his office.
"Dr Jackson?" she said as she stood in his doorway seeing him sitting staring at a piece of paper.
"Dr Weir," he looked at her in amazement, "What brings you here?"
She gave him a soft smile, "I wanted to make sure you were alright."
Daniel gave a soft laugh slightly bitter, "I'm not too sure about that."
Elizabeth tentatively took a few steps into the office, "Do you mind?"
"No," Daniel said quickly, "Of course not. Please take a seat…if you can find a clear one."
With a smile Elizabeth placed a load of books onto the ground before pulling the seat over beside him.
"So what can I do for you?" Daniel asked placing the paper down.
"I was hoping to see if I could help you," Elizabeth replied, "I know I'm supposed to be in charge now but considering you're part of my premier team I'd like to…"
"Make sure we're still able to perform our work now Jack is…" Daniel trailed off, "We bounce back. We always have."
Elizabeth nodded glancing down at the paper Daniel had been staring at, "What's that?"
Daniel glanced at it and laughed slightly, "After I returned to Earth and regained my memory Jack made me write down a promise that I would not die again for at least another fifty years, it also includes disappearing and getting hurt."
She gave a smile at his wry look, "I've read your file so I can understand."
Daniel dropped his eyes for a few seconds before glancing up, "I should have made him write the same thing."
Elizabeth gently touched his shoulder in support receiving a smile from the archaeologist. Her eyes glanced over the rest of the desk and came to rest upon the two photographs that sat there.
"I assume that is your wife," Elizabeth pointed out the picture of Sha're, "I've read all the files on almost everything to do with the SGC. You actually lived for a full year voluntarily on a completely alien planet."
Daniel laughed as he reached out to touch Sha're's picture, "It wasn't alien to me. I lived a great deal of my life in Egypt. Besides Sha're taught me everything I needed to know. Jack swears she was a saint to put up with me."
Elizabeth laughed, "I know Colonel O'Neill was a great man, the files on him are extensive as well as the exploits of SG1."
"Yes he was," Daniel sighed, "And as for the exploits, thing just sort of happened to us."
"I want this place to work, I want to do my best for Earth," she told him, "But I need help."
Daniel chewed his lip, "I doubt I'm the best person to help."
"But you're not military and they don't like me too much," Elizabeth reminded him.
Daniel gave a soft laugh, "You have to earn it and it's not easy. Trust me but I'm not actually getting any work done so I'll help you as much as I can."
Elizabeth smiled gratefully, "Thank you Doctor."
"It's Daniel," he told her.
Elizabeth nodded and slipped off the seat to return to her office. Daniel took one more quick glance at the piece of paper before heading to help their new CO.
"Should have gotten him to make the same promise," Daniel sighed.
