Elements of Hope
Naki was walking with her family, her mom, her dad, and her brother. She is 6 years old, her brother is 9. Equalists are just beginning to populate Republic City, but they are rare. Avatar Korra is 7, and is just learning how to be the avatar. As Naki and her family are walking down the street when an equalist comes out and electrocutes her parents right before her eyes. Little Naki's eyes welled up with tears and her brother grabbed her shoulders. The equalists hurt him too. "Someone call the emergency satomobiles!" a woman cries as her eyes see the whole thing. Naki was left untouched, but scarred mentally. Emergency satomobiles come and take her brother and her parents. Her brother is injured … but her parents are dead.
A 6 year old Nakioko cried and ran for her life. "Hey come over here!" she heard a whisper from around the corner. She saw two boys, one her age, and one 8 years old. The six year old had jade eyes with thick eyebrows and dark brown hair. The 8 year old is taller and skinnier with slick black hair. They had puffy, red, tear-stained faces. "I'm Mako, and this is my little brother Bolin." The one with the red scarf said to Naki. "Over here! These kids' parents are hurt!" a man cried out and pointed to two bodies on the concrete… Mako and Bolin's parents. They were mugged by a firebender minutes before. Bolin was crying hard, and soon so was Naki. Emergency satomobiles carried Mako and Bolins parents to a hospital.
"Come on guys, don't start crying. Here Bolin have dad- my scarf." Mako took of his red scarf and handed to Bolin. "Where are your parents, little girl?" Mako gave a sharp look to Naki. "T-t-they're d-dead." shivered Naki. "Ours, too. You can stay with us. I'll have to take care of you both. C'mon guys." Mako took Naki and Bolin by the arm as they walked away from all the lights and loud sounds. They walked to find a new home, and a new hope.
