I lie in wait
I wonder
Screaming fills my head
I watch my friends be
Swept away
I know I should be dead
With a heavy heart, I slumber
With my eyes still open wide
For I know my actions were not my own
For me, hope had died
Footsteps fall towards me, like Death
I am
Still
I look over to see him there,
My brother, my captain, my king.
His strength is still beyond me
For is he not a man,
Like I am?
Listening to my pounding heart,
I finally understand
For I have failed the Fellowship,
But gave them all this gift
My death a bridge for crossing
This black abyss-like rift
Rought when I caved to darkness
Born when I caved to fear
But silence my bitter tounge so
My captain cannot hear.
He's a stronger man than I am
Stronger than I've ever been
And still he fights to save me,
My brother, my captain, my king.
When stillness causes chaos
I find his hand in mine
And as I smile, I think him
Though I have run out of time
I beg him to save the halflings
To take my fallen land
To never let his heart fall
Into Shadow's hands
Though he wants to heal me,
I stop and shake my head
For him, this is the beginning
But for me, it is the end
And for all my troubles,
He won't accept a thing
I wait for you in Worlds beyond,
My brother, my captain, my king.
