Ikuto sat in front of his breakfast, eying his computer screen as he clicked through the websites to find something interesting to read. He came across a giant picture with a caption that read: '14 year old Ami Hinamori before incident.'
It shocked him. His wife, Amu Tsukiyomi, had a sister with the exact same name and appearance, which could only mean one thing. His eyes slowly moved to the top of the page only to find a headline. A headline that said it all.
"TEEN HANGNING ON A THREAD"
This was why he hated online news. It was always wasting electricity and bringing depression and grief to others. News seemed so biased lately. All the written reports, advertising and interviews were always pulling more to one side than the other, in hoping to get their opinion across. In fact, most of the news was on how horrible the world was, talking about crime, health, welfare, education and the economy.
Then, his wife walked in. He quickly changed the tab so she wouldn't be able to see what had happened to her little sister. His wife looked at him. He was acting a little suspicious. She pulled him away from his laptop, that he was hugging for dear life and quickly clicked on all the tabs showing on the screen.
"W-What is this?" she said hesitantly as she backed away from the monitor.
"What do you think it is?" her husband replied in a dark voice, "The reason why I didn't let you touch my laptop."
"Get me to the hospital," she said, looking shocked.
Theres was a moment of silence before Amu broke it.
"NOW!" she exclaimed.
They both raced to the car. Ikuto drove while Amu was the passenger. It took a while to get there but they soon arrived. Asking for Ami's hospital room, Amu went rushing past nurses and doctors but soon enough, they were there. Amu slowly turned the doorknob and entered the hospital room.
There, lying on the bed, was her little sister, Ami. She looked so different from the last time she saw her, cheerful and full of life. Today, she was pale and lifeless, as still as a doll. Amu took one long look at her, now, unconcious sister hoping she would wake up and everything would be over.
Ikuto walked into the room. Seeing his wife gripping onto her sister's hand, he slowly sat down beside her trying to get her to think positive, which was nealy impossible. Then, he saw tears forming in her eyes. They slid down her face and dropped onto her knees, drenching her jeans like no tomorrow. She tried to hold back more tears, but it was hopeless. Seeing her sister in this state was too much.
Ikuto tried once more to comfort his wife, only to bring more pain and suffering to her. He decided that he would try and not get too involved.
After some time sitting by her sister's side, Amu got up.
"We can go now," she managed to squeak, " Ami's not going to like it if I stay here too long." She had a plastic smile plastered across her face.
Ikuto nodded even though he saw the suffering in her smile.
But just as they left the door, a small voice whispered, "I'll be fine. I promise."
This caused Amu to smile realistically, knowing everything was going to be alright.
