JD sat in the otherwise empty doctor's lounge, looking out of the window. The TV was on, but he didn't notice it. The sky was clogged up with fat, grey rain clouds. He was lying lengthways on the couch, propping himself up on the arm, his legs curled up towards his chin. He was on call, and it was already seven in the evening, so he had to enjoy those last minutes of daylight while he could, before the sky was shrouded in darkness again. The gentle pitter-patter of rain began to echo off the windows.

The door clicked, and Dr Cox came in, and sat down next to his feet.

"Eleanor!" he said. "There's a brand new Gilmore Girls season starting right now on NBC and you haven't even tilted your head up! Now I know something's wrong, but I can't quite place my finger on it, hmm…is it because that gorgeous guy you've been oh-so interested in the last couple of weeks asked you home last night and you thought something was gonna happen, but it didn't, so you went home and lay depressed on the couch in the exact same position that you are now?"

JD smiled wryly.

"You know that's not true; I was at your place last night. Nah, it's nothin…"

He turned his head back to the window.

"It's just…I always get a little down when it's Autumn, you know. All the good summer weather's just gone along with all the fun you had, it's cold, it's dark, all the trees loose their leaves…it just makes me feel kinda like all the fun's gone out of life. Well, until winter, that's when me and Turk have our snowball fights!"

"Could you be more of a girl, Michelle…?"

The two men stared out of the window for what seemed like an eternity. Dr Cox began humming something under his breath. JD remained silent, just looking at the dark sky.

"It's been raining on and off for ages…it feels like years since it's been clear!" said JD blankly. Dr Cox looked at him. JD looked back, suddenly embarrassed.

"Sorry…you probably don't want to sit with me on your time off while I'm so depressed" he laughed uncomfortably.

"Newbie!" Dr Cox interrupted. JD stopped talking and stared at him.

"I say what I do in my spare time. And I say it's alright" said Dr Cox.

The two men looked outside. The rain was finally beginning to falter, and after a few minutes it had cleared completely. JD smiled.

"Look at that, Lucy. The smile's returned to your face"

A beam of faint sunlight stretched out from behind a cloud, and filled the room with its pale light. The ray bounced off Dr Cox's ginger curls, making them gleam ruby and gold like autumn leaves.

"Yeah…" said JD. "Here comes the sun…"

Note-For those of you who couldn't tell, this fic was based on the Beatle's song "Here Comes The Sun" by George Harrison. All the girl's names are also from Beatle's songs. Kudos and a cyber-cookie if you got that!
