PROLOGUE

I'm really, very foolish
I know of no one other than you
You're looking at someone else
Yet you have no idea of my feelings like this

"Where is she …" A small boy mumbled, his hair wet from the pouring rain. He was waiting for his best friend, who was supposedly coming.

He glanced at his watch, 7:37. Two hours past their meeting time, and two hours wasted.

She wasn't coming, again.

He's been waiting at the carnival for 2 hours already; since he got here he's been sitting on the hay. Just fiddling with his watch, the one Bella bought him.

His lip started to quiver slightly, but he shut them close. No, he was not going to cry again. It would just ruin his, "Manly image" as of what his father thinks. But it really was real, his best friend wasn't going to show up, and … he's not going to ride with anyone on the bus home.

Breaking away from that day dream he stared at the night sky, it was empty. No stars, no nothing. All that was in the sky was the moon.

He sighed, checking his watch again, 7:45. He couldn't stay any longer, because he knew that she would never come. Like last time, he waited at the bus stop, not a flash of that silky hair.

Sometimes he wishes; she was never his best friend.

"Edward, honey, how was the carnival? Did you eat okay? Did you and that darling Bella go on any of the rides?" His mother questioned, scrubbing the counter with a cloth.

The boy stayed quiet but just lied, "Yeah mom, it was great. Bella was all laughing when I spilled some of my ice cream on the table!" He cringed inwardly; he hated lying to his mother. But the disappointment she gave off was even gloomier.

She smiled sweetly at him, "Well, dear, get to bed now. I don't want my son with bags under his eyes tomorrow."

"'Kay mom." He kissed her on the cheek quickly before heading upstairs.

He cleaned up and then fell asleep, dreaming about the girl whom he had loved since 1st grade.

My Bella Swan.

A/N: I don't think a lot of people would review, 'cause my stories always turn out crappy. D:

Ugh, if you didn't have the brain, you would review.
