She's broken
And he knows it
She's standing on top of their tower. Their home.
Looking out over the city she tries to protect, when really she just causes more trouble, but she tries and that's what counts, right?
It's raining and she's soaking.
But she doesn't mind because the rain hides her pain, washes it away until next time it all gets to much.
And she comes up here to consider letting herself fall.
And he watches her from the shadows, too absorbed in her beauty to notice her closing the gap between her and the edge.
She toes the edge knowing that it's the line between living or falling.
She knows she'll fall eventually.
The only thing keeping her here is her desperation to not become the monster she was created to be
Only she's already failed.
And she knows that when she falls there'll be no-one there to catch her
Because she's broken
So she lets herself fall
And he watches from the shadows as she gracefully falls from what should be her home not her death
Horror flashes through his masked eyes as he realises she's not going to save herself this time
Because she was broken and he had let her fall
