Eyes of An Endless Spring

I looked into her eyes one day,

and found myself staring into spring.

I fell into her earthen gaze,

I lost myself to her innocence.

She smiled as I stared at her,

a welcoming smile,

a warm smile,

like the sun just after winter's reign.

She laughed a little, the tinkling sound

lifting my soul on a newborn breeze.

My heart fluttered as it flew,

drifting deeper into her endless spring.

I grasped her hand without a thought,

and found myself being lead away.

She pulled, I followed,

had it always been this way?

As we ran, some part of me recalled

a lover, a scream,

betrayal in brown eyes,

And I remembered winter's promise.

But that season was past,

finally laid to peaceful rest.

Now I, too, had found salvation,

in the eyes of my endless spring.
