A Tribute to Sirius Black
Sirius Black and a later mentioned characters, places, and events are all created by J.K. Rowling. Though she did kill afore mentioned character, I am sure it was for a purpose, so I will grieve and get over it in time for the next book.
Sirius Black. We knew you for such a short time. We knew your name. You were infamous. To many, the mention of your name sends chills up the spine. Except for us. The few who trusted you after you broke out. The proud, who stood by you in times out great danger. The caring, who were concerned for your safety when you were in hiding. The sad, who are grieving your death today.
Your friends, Remus, James, Lily, Albus, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Arthur, Molly, Charlie, Bill, Fred, George, Ginny, Mad-Eye, Tonks, Kingsley, Elphias, Dedalus, Emmeline, Sturgis, Hestia, the rest of the Order, and even I, Severus Snape, will miss you greatly. We all can remember our times spent with you, whether it was current or long since past, enjoyable or less enjoyable. We still all feel your presence in your home, at the school, or anywhere else we go.
Sirius, you were a great person. You may have been cruel, but later in life you made up for it, taking on a tremendous responsibility of being guardian of Harry. You were always there when he needed you, to offer advice, to be someone he could confide in. Remus and I will do our best to fill the shoes that were yours. We promise you that we will take care of your godson. We promise to do what you did if he is ever again if the face of danger. We promise to do our best to teach him how to fend himself against the dangers that he will meet, that you have met. We promise to care for him, no matter what.
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and all other children who befriended you will remember you as their caretaker in the troubled night at the Ministry. They will always remember how you gave your life so they could continue living theirs. How you risked your life, left the safety of your home, rushed to the Ministry, where there was a department dedicated to finding you and making you go back to Azkaban. You then rushed in with all of the trained Aurors and fought by their side against some of the most dangerous Death Eaters known. And you weren't just fighting for your best friends son, or even his best friends. You were fighting for all of the children who were in danger that night, many you didn't even know. Not many can say that they risked their lives for people they didn't know. Of course, I suppose you can't say it either, since you are, regrettably no longer with us.
That night, Sirius, I saw a side in you that made me forgive you for all of the torment you put me through in school. And why? Because you showed me that in the face of danger, you could and would do anything. I respect that. I am so sorry that you ended your life thinking we were enemies. I don't know if it is possible for you to forgive me now, but if you can, please do. I will miss you, Sirius.
Now it is time for me to go back to being the most hated teacher in the school, and for you to enjoy your afterlife. Lily and James will be there with you, Sirius. Go join your friends, now. Be not afraid. Or maybe I should be not afraid. Am I, Severus Snape, afraid of death?
