Being pushed around by Flash was not his ideal way of starting his first day of third grade. "You think that your smarter than everybody else, huh?" Flash asked Peter, shoving him harder than he expected into the rough black top. Peter didn't mean to get Flash so mad. He thought helping him answer that question that morning would make Flash thankful not frustrated. "N-No." Peter mumbled as he tried to get up onto his feet, searching for his glasses in the process.
Flash taking notice of Peter's struggle, kicked him in the back of the leg causing peter's knees to buckle. Peter scrapped the palms of his hands and his knees as he hit the ground. "Stay down. There is no use getting up at this point,nerd." Flash laughed out. Peter couldn't help the tears of pain that stung his eyes as he tried to get up once more. " You going to go cry to your mommy and daddy?" Flash touted as his friends laughed as well.
"Hey!" Flash and Peter both whipped their heads around to see who had just yelled. "Leave him alone!" The kid who just yelled came over and in the process picked up Peter's glasses and handed them to him. Putting on his glasses, he noticed that he had seen this kid in the halls before. He was a little chubby for his age and had jet black hair.
" What are you going to do? Tell the teacher on me?" Flash asked threateningly. "Yeah I will. Then you'll lose your recess." Flash's eyes grew wide with the thought of not having free time outside and motioned for his buddies to follow him as he ran off. The kid turned towards Peter and help out his hand. " Hi. I'm Ned." Peter took his hand and shook it. "I'm Peter. Thanks for the help." He said sheepishly. " Your welcome. Would you like to be my friend?" Peter was taken aback, surprised that this kid would even want to be his friend after seeing what had just happened to him. Peter smiled and said " Sure." At that moment they didn't realize that this would be a friendship that would last forever.
