It was Christmas Eve.
Many individuals could be seen on the sidewalks and streets, most in shopping malls doing some last minute shopping before Christmas day truly arrives. Eager was clearly written on their faces as they patiently awaited the day to creep pass. On the day of Christmas itself, they would settle down in their respective homes together with their family, singing carols and exchanging gifts. It was the repeated routine every year that many might probably be bored of by now, for the exception of some lonely souls who wished that they could have a chance to savour the feeling.
A certain brunette was walking by the sidewalks, scrutinizing his surroundings as he did so. Kazuki observed as people bustled around the streets, carrying boxes which contained items that were purchased earlier on. A smile made its way onto the brunette's lips as he watched a child walking alongside his mother, humming a tune merrily. Somehow, that sight reminded Kazuki of the times he had spent with his parents when he was a child. They would celebrate Christmas together, consisting of both his parents and himself. Although silence often greet them through the night, Kazuki did not mind it because then, he could be alone with his parents. Unfortunately for the brunette, he would not have the chance to do so again.
Sadness. Despair. Longing. These were the thoughts that lingered in the slender brunette's mind as he broke out from his reverie. Deciding to return to the comforts of his home, he slowly traced the path he had previously used. The brunette did not even notice that he had arrived in front of his house, thoughts of moments ago still lingering in his mind. Taking a few seconds before regaining his composure, Kazuki took a deep breath and walked up to the doorstep, lifting a set of keys to unlock the door.
Soon after he was inside, the brunette seated himself in front of the fireplace and watched as the blazing fire danced around the area, emitting warmth that soothed his slightly shivering body. A sudden knock on the door shook Kazuki back to reality, averting his attention from the fireplace and gazing at the door. Walking towards it, the brunette wondered who it was, although a mental image of whom it might be burned in his mind.
Kazuki turned the doorknob and pushed the door open slowly, revealing a familiar figure which was immediately identified as Midou Ban. Two strong arms wraped itself around the lithe figure, taking Kazuki by surprise at the sudden action. Mere seconds later, the motion was answered as the brunette returned the embrace, his lips forming into a warm smile. After what seemed to be minutes later, the both of them reluctantly release each other as Kazuki gestured for the raven-haired youth to enter. The brunette slowly closed the door behind them as Ban made his way into the living room. The raven-haired youth had visited Kazuki's house one time too many, therefore, he had already memorized the place by heart.
No words were said nor were it needed as both teens settled themselves on the couch in front of the warm and welcoming fireplace, relishing each other's presence. It was all they needed as they savored the moment, whispering sweet nothings to one another. Christmas was said to be the day where all your wishes come true. Even so, the both of them need notwish for anything since they already got what they needed... each other.
