"Defying Gravity?" you ask, your eyes sparkling with a glimmer of excitement. I haven't seen that look on your face for months. No one else notices when your face falls and you nod dejectedly, deflated when Mr. Schue says that Rachel got the part you coveted. I can almost hear your thoughts,

'Why can't anything go my way?'

You glanced at me quickly and met my eyes. I sent you a sympathetic look and you tried to smile back, failing miserably.

"Take 5 guys," I heard Mr. Schuester say. I wandered over to you.

"Hey Mike," you said, voice wavering.

"Bad day huh?" I asked rhetorically. I pulled you, my boyfriend, into a hug, rubbing soft circles into your lower back with my hand.

"You deserve the part, you can hit that High F. I know you can," I said trying to cheer you up.

"If I do then Rachel will quit, for the umpteenth time and therefore we will be one short, our greatest singer at that," you scoff into my jacket.

"She's not our greatest, you are. She's just the star. The one with the spotlight. YOU are the greatest singer I've ever heard," I say, purposely flattering you. You don't even have the energy to scold me about how you 'couldn't possibly be better than Kristen Chenowith or Idina Menzel'.

I kiss the top of your head and whisper,

"I love you, don't you ever forget that,"

"I love you too,"

You left early, claiming a stomachache. I knew that wasn't true, you never get sick. They all were suspicious but after you left, I told them the real reason.

"He wants the solo," I said simply.

"Then have him fight for it," Mr. Schue said simply, trying to please everyone.

"But he knows that if he makes it, beats her, she'll leave," I said bitterly, gesturing over my shoulder at Rachel.

"Try me! I will have you know..." Rachel interjected.

"Know what? That you get to feel superior to all others because you can flounce out and have us grovel? That you 'deserve' the solo? That Kurt is happy with staying in the background? Um, no. He's not. He's so sick and tired of Rachel's antics, Mr. Schuester's favoritism, our drama. Berry doesn't deserve the solo. No, not this time,"

With that I got up and left, leaving the other Glee kids behind me, upset and confused. I told you what happened and you slapped me then kissed me. The slap for telling them without your permission and saying things that I probably shouldn't have said. The kiss for standing up for you.

"I love you, and I would pick you over glee club," I whispered into your hair.

"I love you, and I say we're done with that forever," Kurt murmured.

"I concur," I whispered before pressing my lips onto yours.

You defy everything and everyone. You are perfect. You are mine.

From Mike's POV

Too long to be a true drabble but still, I love this pairing.

Thoughts?

I love reviews. So does Mike and the angsty, pain filled Kurt.
